What did you get for Christmas??
Re: What did you get for Christmas??
Lets see here:
- New work clothes, lame but I refuse to spend money on shit I hate
- New pair of work shoes, Johnston & Murphy, really comfortable for dress shoes
- Desk calendar
- Monstrous fleece blanket to pass out under
- $100, which will be going towards another pinball machine at some point in the future
Pretty lame overall, but short of paying off my car or buying me a house, there's not much I'd ask for that I can't just buy myself. I've had my own personal Xmas for the past 3 years running.

Re: What did you get for Christmas??
Nothing too fancy... A few books, some various hand tools, a multimeter, and an enameled cast iron pan (since I do a fair bit of cooking.) That last one will probably end up exchanged, since I have a similar one already. I also recently bought myself a PS3 and a new LCD TV, so I can't complain. Mostly it was nice to spend the day with the family, at least until they started with the sucker bets and some fear factor foods from the gag gift exchange last night, culminating in my brother puking up dinner. Does anyone here actually eat dried anchovies?

And did you end up paying up or winning a few bets hustling with the family members, Vexorg? It's cool to win some bets and make some money on the side. I made a bet once with my niece and nephew playing a bowling session on the Will and my nephew ending up winning...had to fork up a crisp twenty smacker to him for winning the match. Oh well, sometimes it ain't your day to win at sucker betting on playing video games, eh? ^_~

Re: What did you get for Christmas??
Peanut brittle, chocolate candy, a reindeer that poops jelly beans, electronic distance finder, inverter, SAE hex key set, two quarts of Redline MT-90, a cooler, sweatshirt, an engraved USB flash drive, a book (fiction), pizza slicer, bird feeder, Pepsi, manga, $$.
I think we generally steer toward novelties and consumables for gifts to avoid getting something the person already has or has no use for. When it comes to hobby related items like video games, where the recipient has a much deeper knowledge of the subject than family members do, it's too easy to make a mistake like giving them Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition when what they really wanted was Super Street Fighter 2

I stayed out of this one, watching from a safe distance. It's a good thing noobdy in my family drinks; sometimes they're already crazy enough sober. If we drank alcohol, forget the designated driver, I think my family would require a designated bailer.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:And did you end up paying up or winning a few bets hustling with the family members, Vexorg? Re: What did you get for Christmas??
Nothing at all. My mom and sis are JW, and my dad doesn't care. And the rest of my family doesn't know I exist, I think. And my friends don't care much either.
Well, my mom, to make up for not being able to buy me something on Christmas, did buy me those Beatles remasters back in September as a birthday/christmas gift.
But I didn't get ANYTHING on Christmas.

Re: What did you get for Christmas??
I feel kind of awkward when Christmas comes around, because I get so disgustingly spoiled I feel somewhat sick to my stomach afterward-- I don't deserve any of this. My mom's excuse: 'Well, I never get you anything through the year, so...'
Anyway, at the very least, I'll mention the most notable stuff... (note that I have a large, broken family, so I ended up getting a bunch of stuff from everyone)
Some DS games (most notably, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days)
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Cardcaptor Sakura manga, vols. 1-6, (1st Edition Tokyopop)
The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, Phantasmagoria of Flower View, Shoot the Bullet, Mountain of Faith, and Subterranean Animism (aside from the fighting games, my Windows Touhou collection is now complete)
Ibara (PS2 port)
House, Seasons 1-4
A camera/camcorder
HRAP EX-SE arcade stick
60GB Xbox 360 hard drive
around $175
and probably most curiously, a 31-DVD Studio Ghibli box set, imported from China. Some of them are obvious bootlegs, but many of them play perfectly well (and actually look incredibly clear!) with English subtitles. Some of them I haven't even heard of! I can't wait to delve into this.
I actually feel really uncomfortable accepting everything I got this year. I don't deserve any of it. I really, really don't.

Nah, unfortunately I don't have a bike, I used to Motocross but my family kind of went broke and I lost my baby.(YZ250F)
and I have always been really into bikes, I would love to get myself an R6 or something but I would end up killing myself, no speed is really too fast ya know. Some day I will get back into MX hopefully. Be safe out there man.

Well, to be honest, I've just ordered the GoW Collection, so the disk isn't in my hands yet. Life's a bitch

Re: What did you get for Christmas??
Video Projector (Good for playing computer or TV Games & Videos on a larger scale, I have the Gigaware Mini Projector which is reasonably good for the size and money)
New Seat Covers for my truck. (The last owner managed to burn holes in the seats...)
New Computer Monitor (Replaces my CRT and supports higher resolutions, also physically larger)
New Super Mario Bros for my Wii.
I'll probably get a few more things from my family but Christmas was put on hold when my great grandmother died Christmas afternoon (100 years old). So we have yet to exchange gifts.
