Let's see the figures on that. The Xbox is the only console I have ever owned, which broke. My friend at work, his Xbox broke. A friend who plays live - he has had 5 so far. Hard drives, consumer PC grade ones, are not very long lived things. They're not designed to be switched on and off all the time - this is why most companies request their employees leave PCs on, and screens off.Bishamon wrote:The XBox has a much lower failure rate than the PS2.

I bought a modded PSone recently, for about €45. Japanese PS2s can be had for about €150 (probably less). Now, the PSone can do:
- Toaplan Collection
- Gradius Gaiden
without problems.
The PS2, however, can do:
- DDP3
- ESPGaluda
- Psikyo Collections 2+3
- Shienryu Collection
- Gunbird Collection
- Psyvariar 1+2
- Shikigami 1+2
- XII Stag
- upcoming Taito Collection
- upcoming Capcom Collection
- upcoming Mushihime Sama
probably more, which I just forgot right now. The point being there´s also a lot of oldschool stuff exclusive to PS2, not just Cave games. When I bought the PSone, I knew it was just an intermediate thing, until I can either afford a Raiden DX PCB or a jp. PS2.

My Xbox is the first model released in Japan - someone even blew up the power board, yet it's good as new.
Be attitude for gains:

And a shameless plug for the stuff I'm selling on eBay, if you're into that sort of thing.

My first xbox died in 1 week, it would take about 20mins to make it eject a damn cd. Anyway I exchanged it for another one and had it chipped and installed a 120gig HDD, since then no problems.

Where the heck could I get a US one with a Stealth mod?? Do you know of any online stores that sell them?bigbadboaz wrote:Dave, regarding the JPSOne, why don't you just get a US one with a stealth mod? Should come in well under $100 and you can play EVERYTHING.
Seriously - think about it. If the American companies are competing with the Japanese companies, who are supposedly building their products to last, how could they possibly benefit from building a shoddy product? Consumers aren't going to run back to them when the product dies - they'll go straight to the Japanese manufacturer for a replacement. Please don't go into this. I've had no problems with my 'american' cars.
For the record, I am driving a 1994 Mustang GT with 100K miles. Still runs and feels as solid as the day I bought it. The classic 5.0 will run on and on and on.
