Anyone here managed the second extend before stage 2 (without using the tutorial bug)? Quiet, GP & EOJ.

I came within a gnat's tadger several times with about 34.8m, but never quite hit the 35. :(

Yeah, I can do this all the time now. My best is about 38,000,000. I never wait for that tutorial bug.

I usually cap around 42m on the first stage. Still haven't gotten the 500x on the first boss down quite right though. I use the method of draining your gems at the start to max out Over level as I've never managed to reliably score as well without doing that without using the tutorial glitch.

Also, the BEST scoring strategy on the first stage involves grabbing gems up until the first set of spiral bullet guys, then you hold Kakusei and grab the gold on the first one to Zesshikai the other 3. Then you do the same for the next set that shows up after the mid boss. It requires a lot of really careful management but you can push over 60m doing it.

I can't do this either. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I feel like I am doing exactly what I see being done in superplay videos, but I can only ever hit 400-450 max.

Seriously kernow, I would heartily suggest you pick this up. I think the first one is a fine title, but I always faaaar preferred the intensity of the PS2's arrange mode, and Galuda II is somehow even better than that! I think the chaos of the Zesshikai gives you more freedom to experiment with using it at different points for massive scoring (excluding to some extent stage 1). With Galuda, it feels as though the optimum points are far less frequent, and entirely prefigured by design. To me, this makes for a more constrained, DDP chaining-like experience, i.e. there are few alternative routes for big scores, with little room for deviation. With the sequel, I didn't feel as though I was 'doing it wrong'. Make sense? All of this could be conjectural horseshit of course, as I've never scored that highly in any of Galuda series.

Edit: Necronopticous just disproved my theory - of course there are ways you can do it wrong. Not doing it like the super play is a good working definition. But ffs buy the game anyway, it's amazing.

DOJ is "much" easier than E2 due to all bombs you get through the game. Took me 2 weeks to 1CC DOJ and E2, well, probably never...

It's actually not too hard. You can get 40 mil by using even the not-highest-scoring patterns (which don't require the tutorial bug). video from quite some time ago.

I always play for score, so obviously DOJ is far, far more difficult than Galuda 2 to me, but the fact of the matter is, the Galuda 2 has a probably the most complex scoring mechanic of any of the Cave games. That's going to turn a lot of people off. I think I'm done with it for the most part, but will give the two arrange modes a fair go on Black Label.

if i'm doing well I can get over 40mil by the end of lvl 2 and I never use the tutorial bug. This is making me want to play this again, but DFK has me sidetracked.

Damn, early on the Fami 360. I was going to go pick it up tomorrow.

Nice, Feb 25th. The late 2009 gaming orgasm continues into the next year.

I think I either read too fast and skipped it or we are forgetting something:

REGION FREE WHERE? Is it going to be like Mushi Futari? I hope so. Start placing your bets.

I'm glad they gave it a new cover. Not that I didn't like the old artwork, but it focused almost completely on the female characters and the "II" was pink.

Come on, this is a game where people explode when you shoot them! Man up!

At least this one's got some guns on it.

I don't like the artwork. It looks childish and uninteresting. I don't like ESP Galuda 1 artwork either, but it's definitelly better than this one. Compared to Mushihime Sama's art, this is just forgettable.

According to the blog post, it sounds like both the LE and regular versions of the game will have a 1 disk OST inside the case along with the game disk. Game modes confirmed so far :

Arcade
Xbox 360
Novice
Arrange
Black Label
...and possibly one more

Sounds like the game isn't actually done yet, so there's still hope.

Yeah, the art is kinda generic, but I do like it better than the original's artwork. I thought it had a really bad cover.

If the OST is also in the standard edition, I might just get SE this time. The faceplate is useless to me since I run my system with the case open, and I don't expect to need the added re-sale value if I don't re-sell the game.

About the artworks.... I like the character designs of II better, but in both games, my main attraction is still the mechanical designs.

edit: this is all provided the release is again region-free..!

I thought it was already confirmed that all future cave ports will be region-free in an effort to boost sales/interest???
