They just are kinda tricky, once you get the hang of them they are really fun.
And on that starfish boss, You're supposed to stop shooting at it when it goes on it's ball form, Then it goes to it's regular form.
And you probably slam into stuff because there are now much more enemies on screen and different kinds of them, Which is really neat.

The starfish is proximity based IIRC. Come close to it and it'll enter that defensive move. Go to the other side of the screen or stay as far as you can from it and it'll open up again "dancing" to the music. Bombing it doesn't help either. I quite like this boss. I found much more infuriating the giant serpent boss because it brings old Gradius to my mind and inability to be able to kill it fast and how long it takes before it explodes and my fear that I'll crash right into it.

Bosses definitely got more awesome this time around, the big ship from before fires much better patterns that come "beating" at you while it could also work as a carrier and release smaller ships.

The attractors are plain evil and I kind of feel we could do without them but, well, they go down fast.

Having unlocked the reflect barrier, I just find much easier to deal with them by going melee and slamming a maxed ultra beam.

The micro missiles are Macross-awesome but make things way too confusing. I know it's counterproductive for the CPU but they could use neat trails on them so they stand out from the regular displays of fireworks.

The multiplayer part can be bandwidth consuming as well, I advise not to have anything running to make sure you get the best ping possible. Some minor hiccups can cause delayed deaths or worse like constant disconnects and such.

This experience truly explains why online might not work as people hope with a game like Jamestown. But let people keep asking it and we'll see. One can hope.
