I haven't played any of the mentioned games besides Giga Wing. Seems that they aren't so rare after all.

Amazing!

A good ol' shag in the genital area of the Cerne Abbas giant was once believed to increase the chance of conceiving.

Anyway, on topic, this is a great topic. Good spot ST Dragon. I love crop circles, I love shmups would you beleive, and I love SWIV (level 3 of this weeks STGT09 game Thunder Dragon 2 anyone?).

This is the best resource for Crop Circle stuff. The original and the best!

The White horse is alot more ancient but its always that man with the big sticks everybody thinks of 1st when talking about hillside pictures/monuments or whatever theyre called.

A prime example of sex sells, something which the monks/priests of the nearby abby didnt forget when they made it.

I don't see why we all have to have the same tastes in shooters, let alone agree on everything?...

No worries ST Dragon. Circle Makers were (I think) the group formed by many of the groups making circles in the 90s heyday in the UK. On a side, do you get a lot of crop circles in the US (or anywhere else?). In the UK, while the craze has passed a little, they still appear on a yearly basis. I know they appeared in Japan on the dust of tube station walls (opposite the platforms, where 'humans couldn't get them'). Shame the Circle Makers site hasn't been updated in a while.

A far better gallery I just discovered is actually the massive, bang up-to-date Temporary Temples, and Crop Circle Connector is ok too.

Of course, as proved by ST Dragon, crop circles are in fact caused by space craft lost on their way from universes like the Bydo Empire.

Brings a whole new meaning to pop'corn' enemies! Fnarr fnarr! Arf arf!

Don't take it too seriously, I was kinda kidding. If it sounded too harsh, I apologize. I think I forgot to put a smile at the end of the sentence :D

And these "easy Level" bullet patterns...

Godamn those last few pics especially the insects are the most unique crop circles ive ever seen.

Still i bet circles are a pain to the farmer if he didnt give permission. Hmm i can just picture this applied to a shmup where all the ground units are farmers shooting at the player ship cos he doesnt want any more bloody great big circles in his fields that wreck his crops. End of stage boss farmers with scatter shotguns could even give of bullet maze patterns.

Im phoning Cave up ill make millions and bring shmups back to the masses 8)

Cranassian-theme crop circles please. After playing Raiden IV, I realized that those damned diamond symbols were scattered in every level (but of course), and now I wonder WHY Moss didn't insert a crop circle variation in level 1. T_T

I mean, the symbol was on that huge door that opens up before the boss, but a crop circle would have been much cooler. Especially since the Cranassians are, well, alien enemies *cue theremin music*.

Ha! A farmer shmup! That brings a whole new meaning to bosses with tractor beams...

How prevalent are crop circles outside the UK these days? We still get a couple-of-dozen a year here, and I've visited a couple by chance (passing by at the right time). If you ever get a chance to visit one when it's fresh, you must, just because of how many odd-balls you get to meet. The handiwork on the circles is staggering too...

There haven't been any here lately, and the area I live is agriculture based. We seriously have around 6x the number of cattle vs. humans in my home county! We do get some "corn mazes," a bit like a hedgemaze. Farmers out here will actually charge people an entry fee and make a little money on the side. Nothing as elaborate as the danmaku posted, though!

Hedge mazes were a bit of craze in the UK a few years back.

Beleive it or not, in the 1990's some farmers charged the public to enter their 'circled' fields. Fair enough, I guess, considering the cost of the crop's damaged.

Then, some enterprising farmers realised they could charge circle makers, who in turn would be paid by brands to advertise products. Alien's selling out to the man!

And then there's political/protest crop circles...
