Re: STGT'09 Week 3 - Thunder Dragon 2
I definitely would have preferred Dragon Blaze (far and away the best dragon game), but after two Cave games last year, Mike didn't want two Psikyo games this year. Hopefully we can still see Dragon Blaze during Psikyo, but I expect Strikers 1999. This would have been a good week to sneak in an 80s game or hori or something, except all the ones I can think of involving dragons suck when playing for score. Maybe there should have just been a hori week (Sexy Parodius, Cotton Boomerang, whatever) or 80s week (Gunsmoke, Robotron limited lives) because the theme this week really hamstrung the choices.Ruldra wrote:Dear lord, with so many great options for a dragon week you had to choose this one?
You should also listen to the other part of the log and play Shippu Mahou Daisakusen.dex wrote:I think I'm going to be playing more rohga this week instead (thanks Twiddle!).

After less than 10 tries I think, got to the stage 2 boss in this attempt...
I've got 300k in the bag.

We played Dragon Blaze in STGT 06, so I doubt we are going to play it this year again. But yeah, Thunder Dragon does not really fit the dragon theme.Enhasa wrote:I definitely would have preferred Dragon Blaze

First credit. Did I just hear something like "get outta my sight" from the announcer?..

Second credit. First credit was more of a "Ooh, this is how you're not supposed to play this game" credit.

Guess I don't like this game. Bullets that disappear between layers of items and shots that suddenly hit you without you even having seen them ever. The Rank system makes practicing fairly worthless unless you are very consistent with your strategy, bombing for survival is somewhat counterproductive because you get the next wave right after. Despite doing the same stuff my score varies by as much as 10k on the first stage, and I can't find any reliable way to even get the letters at the start of stages. This game is doing a good job of being about things I'm bad at, let's see where i will get to by the end of the week.

Does the announcer say "GODDAMN YOU!" when you die?

Surprise attack by stage 4 boss! I should be able to get enough bombs to no-miss up to it at least though.

Fought the Stage 3 Boss with like no real firepower and then got cought in a corner by the laser, flamethrower and a bullet, so I decided to bomb the hell out of it to avoid the same issue with even less firepower on my last live. DIdn't score well on the second stage, and barely got anywhere on 4, so at least this looks like I can do more than this.
