^ Nice to see that kind of enthusiasm for the franchise. Hopefully since they are not selling this particular IP, the series will continue, and we'll all see another official sequel one way or another in our lifetimes. ;)

Thanks. yeah I know but hopefully when I DO finish...(and soon) I hope Tsoft or WHOever takes some notes from my take...I don't even care about "patent" for story or whatever. It all started with TFIII for me at 12....even made a dice role playing game on III during my long run in Detention that year....used a battletech book to do it. LMFAO!!!!

I'm glad I have to worry about this and not the game itself, since I only play video games for their music.
Honestly, the shitty music in TFVI is part of what ruined it for me.

And the FUCKING AWESOME music in TFV is part of the reason why I love that game so much.

Though TFVI isn't great to begin with, so even music that topped TFV wouldn't help it much.

G.rev doing a Thunder Force game would be swell, though!

Just keep it away from Cave and I'm happy.

Just keep it away from Cave and I'm happy.[/quote]I AGREE ....TFVI SHOULD'VE Never happened without TSUKUMO...plain and simple.....he IS Thunder Force. But....It did.. And I am a Tsukumo Purist.

B...U...T...It wasn't bad.....(TFVI MUSIC) Tamayo Kawamoto IS VERY respectable and I believe he knew what was left to him....Ever Blue (PHOENIX) is a GREAT Track...I mean it's not Tsukumo and it only half fits what TF is ALL about...but it a good tune...so is Ruined Green (PHOENIX) and (RYNEX) ver.
Now....with that said GO SATO.....I REALLY ENJOYED his BOSS THEMES they were REALLY GOOD. He captured some of the essence of what TF is about.

Overall....and let me repeat...NO ONE IS AS critial about GAME music as I am..>ESPECIALLY TSUKUMO...and TF Series...it's really all I listen to.....among other game music. I hardly listen to "Normal" music...TFVIs Soundtrack BARLEY is worthy of the series --BOSS tracks notwithstanding---BUT that doesn't mean it was bad.........It just kinda sounded like a "RAY"series game.

I'm also a great fan of Tsukumo's work, but I think putting his TFVI-themed tunes into the doujin 'Broken Thunder' PC shmup probably backfired in regards to his chances for involvement with Sega's official TFVI release. Although no fault of his, his involvement was part of what tricked a lot of people into buying that disappointing doujin release. The timing was bad; at that point it's likely the official TFVI dev team didn't want to be associated at all with that project. Hopefully by the time TFVII rolls around they'll bring Tsukumo back onboard.

Broken Thunder OST makes it worth owning for that alone, which is more than I can say about any of TFVI's features (well ok some pretty graphics, but that was never the lure of TF series).

They should erase all but the OST of Broken Thunder, pretend it never existed and make TFVII featuring it AND good playability (BT somehow PLAYED better than TFVI btw, it was just the design that was breaking up).

Hey, besides the Soundtrack tsukumo released back in 06' (Broken Thunder:project Thunder Force VI)
Was there a release of the Tracks from the ACTUAL DOUJIN release....I mean yes the tracks are the same title and melody but the DOUJIN versions sound different and there are I'm guessing tracks on there that weren't on the re-released ST, like the title screen and game over theme (which was kinda cool) The only way I've gotten them are to dlload the youtube vid and convert to mp3.

Not sure if there was a separate release but there were 2 editions of the Broken thunder release:

normal and LE. The LE had a separate OST as it's bonus.
I only got the normal release (shame on me ), but iirc on this forum at least Ghegs got the LE so he might be able to tell you more about it.

I really doubt TFVII will happen unless the old staff comes back. Also fuck you Sega, we don't want you to produce more shooting games to ruin more franchises, you can fuck off and eat... ah nevermind, we all know they suck dicks. TF6 is an abomination on par with Broken Thunder for me. All shit i loved from previous games didn't appear here like Tsukumo's soundtrack. Sorry for rude language but i'm an angry TF fan.

I FEEL YA......Thunder Force is literally a part of my life....and it's sad that what we got was a re-hash of old stuff.....I KNOW...Hell even my 96' Integra has the same type of color scheme as the RVR-01...It's All gloss white with some blue trim...and even my plate says "RVR-01" but I mean...unless we literally go up to the fing doorstep and REALLY tell the producers what they've done...they'll do it again.

If you guys want a TF worthy......give me the tools....sprites pic's and I can finally get to work. Might take me a bit by myself, but...I cannot stand by anymore....I need someone with artistic talent...storyboard stuff....a knowledge of programming and whatnot....I CAN LEARN VERY FAST......My MOS in the ARMY was a very technical position....well at least one of my MOS's.....I just need some (who speaks english preferrably) to go the distance.

Those other BS sites like TF FUTURE and forever are a joke....and they have lost they're motivation.....I HAVE NOT....

How was that TFV clone called "Legendary Wings" produced. I guess we could start there......please don't look at me and say ..."Google" it....between school, Pool (LOT's OF POOL) and a smokin hot Girlfriend who I love more that TF itself....my time is sparse...HELP US!!!!

I know that they have done considerable amount of work....BUT TO JUST LEAVE IT......and not update....OH WELL!!!.....Like I said, this is going to take a team effort....I've done the hard part....I think LOL!!! coming up with a viable story....not to mention Game Engine...it's might be a bit complex and then it might not....But one thing is for sure....it's made up so that you can never really get a consitant score.....

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

WTF is a "CHERUB PURPLE"

At least they could have not insulted our intelligence and actually put some thought into the Boss names.... GEEZ!!!! Although the Gargoyle Perfect idea was kinda KEWL!!!!

Also...notice the way each of the Forms of the Vasteel Nocht Intros and dies....

They intro fully assembled and pose in the way they look on each of there respective Title Screens
They're DEATH animation is the same as they're respective games...with the exception of Vasteell Nocht (RYNEX) It's death animation is the same as it is in the scene after ORN FAUST Shuttle is destroyed...right before the epilogue...The Gauntlet just Shatters like it did in V except each SHATTER in V was a bit random...no SHATTER death was really the same...the pieces fly off in different directions.

Thunder Force V also had the best version of the series' famous DEATH Tune....

NEVER FORGET....The first time you heard "VENUS FIRE" and probably used the Genesis's headphone jack for the first time. I just stuck a tape recorder up to the TV.....Ahhh the days of when it was difficult to obtain Game music tracks.

Hell yeah! I did this way back in the day too lol.....also with my SEGA Nomad. I just listened to the BGM, though. I never actually tried to record it on tape.

In regard's to Hyakutaro Tsukumo's work on Broken Thunder, I agree with Super Laydock. Tracks like "Fire-Leo 05P", "Moon of Mind" and "Moon of Black Rain BG-00P", alone, make the OST well worth owning. It's just too bad the game sucked so damn bad. I haven't even played it yet, but I listen to my OST CD quite often.

IT REPRESENTS WHAT A TF GAME IS ABOUT TF THE INTENSITY HIGH PITCH WHINE IN THE MUSIC THE BUILD UP IN THE TRACK ITSELF.

Yep. Fire-Leo is one bad ass track. I think my favorite on the album would have to be track #12, "Moon of Black Rain BG-00P". The hook is so epic and powerful.

Have you heard Claymore? http://vgmdb.net/album/6640 It's another album Tsukumo worked on with other VGM composers/arrangers. Real good stuff. This track here: Hyakutaro Tsukumo _ Friends - Claymore - 05 - over take.mp3 - 8.26MB ...is, IMO, one of Tsukumo's best compositions ever created.

Claymore is indeed excellent, both Tsukumo and the other composer's tracks. I wish those songs could've appeared in a top-class shooter! Some are so euphoric-sounding.

Also J-Manic, glad to see you mention "Moon of Mind." Great, dark song. I love the combination of fast electronica with those solemn bell tones. Shame the OST wasn't put to better use, it evokes exactly the kind of cutting-edge futuristic vibe TF demands.

In Claymore, the guitar riff in track #8, "Tryfing", were recorded too high for my taste. It overpowers everything else. Still an awesome track, though. I can see it in a fighting game, like a KOF or a crossover.

HELL YEAH---Overtake is what the CEREBUS Level should have been in TFVI --just start the track about 7sec from level start. I made an ARRANGED version by combining the SLIDE INTRO from "Truth" on Best of TF with it, its about 7sec long and its starts the level out perfect. Now just listen to music and it's riffs....they all match the mood and section of the level. Especially the solo in mid tune. It comes in just AS you begin you assault on the top part of Cerbus. The track ends Just as the cerebus finishes exploding ...if you 16-15x it. Trust me.....it's PERFECT.

I would tend to agree. Technosoft's music team was brilliant, and especially with III and IV, they really pushed the envelope as to what the Genesis/MD could do, proving that the audio architecture of the console wasn't crap like many people thought, it just had to be properly utilized.

Personally, I'd love to see a competent, talented dev team snatch up the TF IP & try to make another entry that is close in spirit to the original series, both in gameplay, as well as in aesthetics (graphics, music, etc).

At least some more activity from Matsuoka/TecnoSoft. They got a shop now, where you can get Soundtracks, Models and post your Highscores for TF5PS and Kyutenkai Fantasic Pinball.
Hopefully we will see more Thunderforce Releases in the future. Heck, a Thunderforce Collection for XBL/PS3 would rule. A DVD release would be even better.
