I'm thinking actually most US gamers would panic at the sight of 230 bullets littering the screen. "OMG I can't dodge all that, bomb now! No bombs? Oh shit. Guess I die. Last ship? No problem, swipe the card and continue."agustusx wrote:i'm thinking at D&B your too drunk to play a shooter, that's why they have so many casual games. Now if D&B games actually worked, we would have somewhere to start.doctorx0079 wrote:THIS WILL NEVER EVER HAPPEN. When was the last time D&B got a new game?? A man can dream though.gameoverDude wrote: I hope they do. It'd be nice to see Gameworks and D&B get some shmups and take a break from their racer/gun game of the week.
I supposed rented hardware would come with 100% uptime guarantee
One game at GW that I'll probably never play is Out Run 2 SP SDX. $3.50 to play a repackaged, casualified, gimmicked-up version of an old (yet still good) game? No. Just no. I'll stick to the regular OR2SP DX cabinet. The Driver Change gimmick seems like lame casual shit.
If they had DFK, they'd have to pry me away from it with a crowbar.
Kinect? KIN NOT.
So, I noticed that my local arcade's Deathsmiles 2 has a big "Revenue Sharing Version" in the lower right corner of the title screen. I guess that's an easy way to tell if your arcade is doing this, haha. There must be something different to this than just renting the board from the company like normal.

I'm sure details will come out, but my guess is it's hooked up to the interweb. If it's on and not connected, it will shove something up the operator's ass or something.originalz wrote:So, I noticed that my local arcade's Deathsmiles 2 has a big "Revenue Sharing Version" in the lower right corner of the title screen. What a joke. Those two games don't interest me enough to part with $1 a play, especially when they've been rehashed to death on 50,000,000,000 different Namco Museum compilations. But 2 plays for 25 cents? Maybe. Or maybe not even then. Pac-Mania & Galaga '88 I'd consider.BryanM wrote:Remember those Ms.Pac-Man/Galaga cabs that charged a $1 a play? Money is expensive.
If it's on and hooked to the interweb, DS2 probably could require a connection to start (which could be a bitch if the arcade's connection was out of order). When first powered on for the day, the game could send last night's play counts to Cave.
Should not enough revenue come in, I'm sure Cave gets to yank the unit and try it in another location- or warn the operator, putting their contract under "probation" before doing so.

Internet is ridiculously reliable here though. Not perfect, but I've had one outtage in the last couple of years, and it was for about 20 minutes. There are other games which require a connection to have certain features (VF5 for one) so you basically lose your customer base if you have shit internet. If it's on and hooked to the interweb, DS2 probably could require a connection to start (which could be a bitch if the arcade's connection was out of order).
