OK, as promised, here's my review.
I'm sure TMR will have his one in Retro Gamer shortly, and I'm looking forward to seeing his thoughts.
Now, to try to capture the feel of the new graphics... I've made a few 6-screen panoramas.

That's a scaled down version... the real ones linked in the article are 2500pixels wide.
I've also linked to the PC demo, if you want to give that a spin.
Oh, and if you're a Mac user, the SAS team have said they'd consider a Mac port.

Well, it won't appear intil RG 76 (it arrived a week too late for me to properly play it for 75 and to be honest Eden's Aegis was already the highlight review for that month) but generally speaking it's similar but in a 230 word count - the only difference is that i found the PC version harder than the C64 one because i swear that some of the nasties are just a little more trigger happy now... but that might just be me. =-)Mr_Staypuft wrote:OK, as promised, here's my review.

Re: Armalyte getting a pc remake!!
Received the game today ....
Thinking of armalyte on the c64 the high-res-graphics may look
a little too clean - but that is a question of the personal taste.
I ´ve had trouble with some bullets - with all the colours in
the background I often had problems seeing them.
But after the short time I ´ve spent with the game I can say
I ´ve had fun. Hope it will stay that way in the later levels.
For the younger ones of you who never played Armalyte -
as a game it is similar to IO or maybe Lifeforce from Konami.
You need more reaction and less memory.
And now please a remake like Katakis, Apydia, Phobia .....
Jochen.

Re: Armalyte getting a pc remake!!
How's the packaging. At the GBP 17 pricetag worth it compared to the GBP 5 download version ?
Re: Armalyte getting a pc remake!!
The game is boxed in a white dvd-case - similar to Dux on the dreamcast.
The booklet is four pages long and contains setup instructions, Mission briefing,
controls, ship enhancements, credits .....
I have to see if the game has some extras ..... ( C64-version ? ) .....
Personally I have no problems with ( legal ) downloads - but in this
case prefer the regular version - as a collector I want to have something in
my hand.
