tbh the only thing that would make me buy a japanese 360 would be a port of ibara BL , but i guess thats never going to happen.

I suppose it's a good time to buy a Japanese Xbox. ;)

Lots of good things on the horizon.

Great news. If the port isn't half bad I'll end up buying a JPX360 for sure!

It wouldn't be a huge surprise if they do port Pink Sweets, DDP DaiF and Ibara the way they seem to be comitted to the system. Just a matter of time and sales.

Considering that both games have T&A aplenty, that doesn't seem terribly unlikely. I don't care much for Daifukkatsu, but a MMP port would be wonderful.

2 Golden nuggets of turd in one day :)

Futari maniac is fantastic. Nice to see any shmups being released. With decent sales cave might continue to make 2d masterpieces & abandon this DS2 bullshit.

Surely a Black Label DLC is will be on the cards.

Amazing - I'm a little guilty of having been disinterested in the Microsoft family of consoles over the past years, but my J360 is just getting better and better to the point that it's just damn amazing to have...

Lets hope we get ESP2 next!

ARRRG why is the 360 of ALL CONSOLES getting all the Cave ports?!!

If they released them on ANY console that wasn't made by microsoft I'd buy it in a heartbeat to play Ketsui or Futari.

Also I still don't understand how this makes any sense. Japan in general hates the xbox. It would have made much more sense to release japan-only shmups on the PS3. Also why the hell do they region-lock these things on the xbox? They are only losing sales by doing so, right? Am I missing some financial reason for doing it? If these came out in the US I'd buy the games just to play them on friends' xboxes, but still, no, they have to be friggin region-locked...

No, they're not losing sales by making a Japan-only game for a Japan-only audience.

Given that the 'core' Japanese gaming industry is in a huge slump, it makes sense for Japanese companies to at least get region-coding taken off their products if they can't for whatever reason actually localize them.

360s are selling to hardcore gamers in Japan, that is, the kind of gamers who would enjoy arcade ports. I'd rather these came out on the PS3 too considering the lack of region lock. I don't even own a PS3 but I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

But what you missed every other time this conversation came up is that Sony's licensing costs and policies on these types of games are what is keeping them coming to the 360. Tiny arcade port publishers can't afford to put their games on the PS3.

As for the region locking, I think they mostly do it to spite Asian import markets.

Waaah. At this point it's far beyond obvious that the 360 is the shooter console of this generation. Not just the several Cave games, but with stuff like Raiden IV and RFA, Shikigami no Shiro 3, Otomedius, Shooting Love 200X, G.Rev's games, etc.

I think it's pretty foolish to care who makes the console. If you want newly released shooter ports, buy the damn (Japanese) system. If you don't want to buy the system, don't play the games.
Also I still don't understand how this makes any sense. Japan in general hates the xbox. It would have made much more sense to release japan-only shmups on the PS3.
The "hardcore" audience in Japan that plays stuff like shooters, fighters, and hardcore action games doesn't hate the 360 at all. In fact, among that audience, 360 is very popular in Japan. Wii and PS3 may have more mainstream acceptance, but the 360 is actually the Japanese shooter otaku's system of choice. If you're releasing a game that has widespread appeal to Japanese mainstream gamers (Nintendo style stuff, Dragon Quest, etc.), release it on the system with a bigger install base.

There's also a bit of an issue of network externalities at work here. That is, the more shooters release on 360, the more it becomes thought of as "the shooter system". As shooter fans buy the system to play the games that exist, that only makes the system further entrenched as the logical destination for publishers who want to make a new shooter. It feeds on itself. 360 is popular with shooter fans because it's well supported with new releases, and it's well supported with new releases because it's popular with shooter fans.
Also why the hell do they region-lock these things on the xbox? They are only losing sales by doing so, right? Am I missing some financial reason for doing it? If these came out in the US I'd buy the games just to play them on friends' xboxes, but still, no, they have to be friggin region-locked...
It's annoying, but you can either deal with it or just not play the games. Been this way for a long time too, this is nothing new to the genre. Saturn, PSX, PS2, DC, Xbox, Gamecube, 360, Wii. We all dealt with it on those systems, we continue to deal with it on 360.

PS3 being a haven from region-locking is an exception among home consoles. That doesn't mean that just because it would be more convenient for you, non-Japanese shooter fan, that the publisher would be best served putting their game on that system.

I agree that publishers deciding to impose a region lock on games when they don't have to (as is the case with 360) is annoying, especially for games like Cave shooters that don't stand to make a large amount (or to be more accurate - aren't likely to be licensed/localized at all) on licensing for other region releases. But that's what we have. You're welcome to protest, and you're equally welcome to import a system and play the games.

This just clinched an import 360 for me. There's just too much goodness coming to pass one up.
