I wonder what the record is for the most chain? I thought I saw a pic somewhere where it was 90 something, but I don't think that was a record.

Cigs, Rob, what's the most chain you guys can get on USA? I can only get 20.

And I wonder if it is possible to chain the beginning of 1-7 at full rank if you don't bomb.

On a very happy note, I finally single life cleared the first loop. Actually finished with a bomb left over, which is nothing compared to the seven leftover for Cigs. Game ended at the USA boss's first form at 2-2. I had no idea what to do.

Arcadia via this site has the highest at 191 with Marion.

I can get 22, and I could see getting 23 or 24 with some work.

It is (there are videos), but I certainly can't.

Way to go! And yeah, USA in the loop is a complete nightmare all around.

Thanks for the link, just saw the records. Five million plus scores, that's unbelievable. 191 coins, that must be every coin in the game. Insane. I don't know how they chain in the second loop, since I think chaining will put you out of strategic spots. But what do I know.

USA - the old west stage. Cacti, lots of coins.
Cigs, Rob, what's the most chain you guys can get on USA? I can only get 20.
23-24, I think. How many coins are there total? I've never been able to get all of them, but maybe 3 off.

I thought I recognized 5,134,000 as a GB2 score.

For your coin-chaining pleasures:

Number of coins in each stage:

USA - 26
Japan - 12
Italy - 20
England - 18
Stage four - 0
Stage five - 12
Stage six - 24
Stage seven - 9

So the max number of coins you can get in the first loop(USA, England, Italy as first three stages) is 109.

490,500 - japtor - Aine - 1-5

edit - just like i predicted, new high with marion:

534,600 - japtor - Marion - 1-5

and uh coin chain
12 - japtor

at least thats the highest i saw, anywhere else to see it?

All thanks to your videos cigs. :) Especially the 1-5 boss second form's second attack. I used to do two small counter-clockwise squares , but your way is much much better.

I still can't dodge the final boss six pills attack(when it's on the right side), and I have to sacrifice another bomb to milk the boss. I've only dodged the six pills attack twice on blind luck.

The disheartening thing about this is a part of the game becomes a new problem every few games. Lately it is the 1-7 midboss, and the part before the three pirates.

I am resorting to not shooting any drones in the second loop. This helps minimize the amount of drones her sub-shots will take out random drones, and filling the screen with bullets going in every direction. The set back of course is I often don't have enough for one level to take out the mechs. How I love her subshots in the first loop, but I fear it in the second. Finally beat 2-1 USA for the first time. Took three lives and seven bombs(lost a life and three bombs right at the beginning by a damn drone's suicide bullets).

I used to say I want USA in 1-1. Not anymore. My preferred stage order now is England, USA, Italy, which means Japan at 2-1, and England at 2-2 :)

Little note: The stage that you don't play in the first loop will be your 2-1 level. Before I mentioned that your 1-1 level will be your 2-2. However, today for the first time, that didn't happened to me. About three times today 1-1 and 2-2 was different. So let's say most of the time your 1-1 stage will be your 2-2 stage. :)

And the second loop still kicks my ass.

On a plus note, 1CC the first loop with Aine. Only Hei-Cob left(which will never happen.) The sound he makes when he gets hit is hella funny(as mentioned by a fellow shmupper in the other thread).

Let me steal first from Cigs for a while before he takes it back.

1,479,900 - IlMrm - Marion - 2-3

2-1 was England, and 2-2 was Japan. Went into 2-1 with only one bomb, and somehow lasted a while.

And it can be done! Finally 1CC the first loop with Hei-Cob. Although there's much more hairy situations when playing with Hei-Cob then some of the other characters.

Thanks cigs. :)

That run was contradictory to what I mentioned earlier about not shooting drones. This time I blasted everything, and did slow sweeps to counter the suicide bullets.

I still have to work on the level five boss's yellow sprays, and the beginning of 1-7. Also still trying to find the spot in the middle between the two lasers and the oval bullets in the 1-6 ape boss's opening attack. I've did it a couple of times in slow rank. Right now since I bomb the second attack, I use Triple Lei's way to dodge the opening attack. But by using his attack you are out of position and the boss will also be out of position for the second attack. Tavia looks so cool when she whips the bullets. 8)

Playing Arcade version:

461,100 1-5 Tavia

Stage 5 Boss it's IM-PO-SSI-BLE for me at the moment, so I just have fun trying to get the best score I can on the first 4 levels :(

Anyone have any videos of how to kill the 6th boss's 2nd form? So many bullets... so many layers.

Yeah (well, first round anyway), but once you understand what cues to look for it's manageable.

The start point is important- watch where Tavia is placed when the pattern is fired. Once it's about to hit move to the left a bit (this distance doesn't need to be super exact, but don't go too far). Now you just sit, then look for the last two large white bullets in one of the "rows." Move left in front of these. It's difficult because it happens so fast that it's tough to tell what the hell is going on at first.

In the video I dodge in front of the third white bullet, but I've found that I'm more consistent waiting for the last two. Basically just watch the video then practice it 50 times.

I just cannot deal with the 2nd phase of the level 6 boss. I have to bomb.

I can't dodge his bullet spray followed by the lasers with Marion.

That's gotta be coolest looking attack, the slow oval spray followed by the lasers. If you plan on bombing the boss's next attack, you should use Triple Lei's strategy.

What he does is right when the boss releases the sprays, move to the outer left edge of the screen, and slide down to the bottom. Once the wave of bullets is near the bottom, move from the bottom left edge to the center, then tap right twice(each tap you will squeeze between bullets).

The other way is like Tavia's. When the boss is about to release the oval spray, set Marion in the center, and about a couple of characters up from the bottom. Stay still as a couple rings of bullets will pass you, then move down with the last ring. The initial positioning is still a trial and error for me. But it looks very cool if you pull it off.

Right now I stick to the first technique since I bomb the second attack. If you want to dodge the second attack, you have to use the second technique because using the first technique, the boss will move to the left side of the screen instead of staying in the center, and the pattern will be messed up.
