I don't think so. I unlocked it by simply credit feeding my way through hard. By "title screen" I mean the screen right after the opening movie. Don't bother pressing buttons after the menu shows up; that won't work.

...but the rest of it might as well be in a foreign language lol

It's some sort of achievement system, but not quite as useless since you need accomplish some achivements in case to unlock some secrets (AKA type-b ship, suicide bullet mode, etc etc)

Yeah I got it. You can do it in the menu if you press right+X too.

-get 16x multiplayer
-get 10x25600 in a combo
-finish normal
-finish hard
-die from big laser cannon on stage 2

Alltynex 2nd (Hard, suicide bullet ON)

Suicide bullet mode is 10 times harder than I thought it was. Alltynex first form is no longer a joke, and Ajattara first form/Satariel third form become even more deadly. Plus, scoring is really really risky, and you must score if you want your 3rd extend...

Don't think I will play again soon.

I 1cc'd Kamui in Normal. The game has some sort of small rank... If you don't die or get hit, the second boss will do a different laser attack and stuff gets a bit more complicated.

What exactly does the config-screen (before you actually start the game) say?

And another questions: Do you need to install the upgrade-patch to 1.01 before you upgrade to 1.02 or can you directly upgrade 1.00 -> 1.02?

Is there a list of the achievements (with translations) somewhere?
