you could fuck up the PC and the JPAC doing that tho.....you shouldnt hot swap stuff like that....they are drawing power so you run the chance of shorting out or arcing to something important and then your fucked....

if that is the only way it will work it sounds like a software issue in the JPAC itself...

i would talk to andy.....having to replace a JPAC is free at this point.....if you got it from andy....but if you fry your PC that aint so cheap

just my 2cents tho

glad you can play some now tho :D

Nah, worst case scenario the jpac dies on me, but not the pc.
In that case i could still replace it.

And you've tried starting it up with the J-Pac connected to your PS/2 and a PS/2 keyboard connected to your J-Pac's "keyboard" slot?

the PC can die.....ive seen it happen from unplugging components while its powered up.....just a word of caution......if it arcs you run a high risk of frying the mobo or at the very least frying the ps\2 connection

oh ok then...as long as it isnt getting power....

oh wait........

by powered up i meant 'on'....as in actively distributing power throughout the system.....

whether you wait for XP to load or not there is still power running to the ps\2 port

i would highly recommend against doing this all the time as your solution....but thats just me

so if your computer stops working, dont post a thread....you already know whats wrong

If it's just a boot problem, I bet you could leave the keyboard in and get a USB cable for the jpac and it would work fine (less plugging on startup).

I've had lots of jpac's and ipac's break for mysterious reasons-- concluding that they are very fragile things. (I might have just been rough with them). I treat them very carefully now. I think I have one cab with two broken jpacs in it- one with broken controls that runs the video, and one with broken video that runs the controls.

I have the ps/2 version, as already stated.
Or are you trying to tell me that i can connect it via the USB port that's meant for reprogramming the thing? oO

I think the USB port can be used as well as the other ports.

like i said before....im pretty sure the only reason you have to specify USB or ps\2 when you order is for the cable.....the USB cable costs more.....pretty sure the newer JPAC's have both USB and ps\2 connectors onboard

try it....if it doesnt work, oh well

Yeah, it has a round plug in (keyboard pass through) and round plug out- the out can go to usb or ps/2. Does the same thing- it treats it like a usb keyboard.
