hey rtw thanks a lot for the working pic
hmm, i dont know if many are still interested in this thread but does anyone have any ideas how to get a ps2 to display on an arcade monitor without having to buy any ultimarc products?
i am good using a soldering iron and can purchase an LM1881 chip etc, but i am unsure of the correct wiring method (need schematic or just some instructions)
A working Ps2 to arcade monitor adaptor?
Re: A working Ps2 to arcade monitor adaptor?
There is the ultimarc schematic further up the thread, but I went for the best: viletimmonty359 wrote:hey rtw thanks a lot for the working pic

or you could just mod the ps2 multi av out port. Either hack a cable (though it'd have to be either scart or ultimarc anyway), or solder some wires directly onto the pins of the multi-av out port. your choice.monty359 wrote:hey rtw thanks a lot for the working pic

Personally I just use the ultimarc cable and plug that into my arcade screen (had a 15 pin dsub so it really was plug and play) or to my framemeister (after converting it to jap scart).
Re: A working Ps2 to arcade monitor adaptor?
hey all again
ok after reading around i decided to put together a schematic using the info i gathered
im not very technical though so if anyone out there can plz check this schematic and let me know if you spot any problems, mistakes, issues, etc
(i am a little confused about using both H SYNC and V SYNC (note: my hantarex mtc9000 arcade monitor has both H SYNC and V SYNC inputs on the video plug)) ..

Re: A working Ps2 to arcade monitor adaptor?
If you are connecting that circuit to a Hantarex mtc9000 you are going to get a very dim image since the input of the mtc is in in the range 0-5V and the output of the PS2 is 0-0.75Vmonty359 wrote:hey all again

viletim has created the best solution, I suggest you buy one of them

Re: A working Ps2 to arcade monitor adaptor?
The JPAC video amp is not a good enough solution. Here is some technical information from viletim.monty359 wrote:ok, but i think i do have a jpac around i can use, any ideas how i can use the jpac video amp with the schematic i posted?

With his new design you will also get a plug and play PS2 interface!

i may consider viletim product then, however where i live in uk there are many free regular crt tv's in my area i can use (ie. rgb scart from ps2 straight into tv).. so i may choose this option instead (personally i find that a regular tv and an arcade monitor picture is not so different)

Re: A working Ps2 to arcade monitor adaptor?
Wow, old thread, I mean way old.
To the point i had to make a new account cause the site upgraded and new passwords needed to be given to an email address which no longer exists!
This is what i now use for the ps2/ps3.

and the back

Hope it helps someone somewhere skip all the crap i had to go thru trying to run an amplified signal on a monitor which doesnt need it.
Turn out thru the years ive been buying less and less of Ultimarc products.
Dont get me Andys J-pac is an awsome device and when coupled with his GPU is just heaven to work with for an arcade.
I kinda grew apart from my Astro city and Crazy taxi(the cab that has the Lm chip in it) over the years, after getting this..

Modified it a bit to make it smaller, heaps smaller. put 4 inch of foam and upholstered the seat

But yeah its currently running on an Ipac2 and 2 ps2 controllers and 2 xbox controllers pad hacked. Looks like this

You change between ipac/ps2/360 using the IDE slots, in the pic above one is set to ps2, the other is 360.
Ps3 is run by using an adapter. I use 2 different adapters which i dont like using. and there the best ones available.
Anyway the above controller padhack/ipac 2 setup is for sale as ill now be using 2 of these bad boys for everything!

All common ground wiring, able to handle most systems ie ps2/3 xbox/360 dreamcast pc.
All on the one board! no adapters needed, just 3 different cables.
When they come in im sure the whole system will be much crisper and more reliable, no more dropped inputs for me =D
