What is your favorite DonPachi shooter?

I guess DDP's my favorite, but I haven't played DOJ,

DOJ just makes grown men cry, in a good way though!

I've played it a few times. There just isn't a lot of incentive to make me go out and play it again.

My order is as follows.

1.) Donpachi
Despite ist age I just love teh chunky bosses and sprites and that announcer is just so cool. It gets cheap at the end but its still brilliant. It waht started me off down this expensive road of 2D shooter collecting.

2.) Dodonpachi
Brilliant game and i can easily understand why some prefer it over donpachi but for me the original just edges it.

3.) DDP DOJ
Just simply too bloody hard later on from satge 3 onwards its like rubbing your balls against a cheese grater. Its pure evil. But i still love it tho. Also prefer the sprite based graphics from donapchi and donpachi to the slightly muddy look of DDP DOJ. The music in DDP DOJ i find quite poor also.

i vote for DoDonPachi... cos i have on Sega Saturn...

DOJ for me. Im always addicted to Death Label mode, on the occaision that my PS2 manages to stop being a ball of stupid long enough for me to run it.


But I also like DDP for double play. Oddly, I almost never play that one with just one ship......

DoDonPachi. It may be inferior to DOJ on most accounts, but it was the shooter that genuinely wowed me by the flawlessness of its design (talking about both gameplay and presentation here).
