I think it's called riding the emo waves. Various minorities and certain nations absolutely LOVE to abuse it, and considering USA is largely comprised of such people, it's no wonder it all gets a green light there.

I fail to see how Israel is trying "to kill off an entire race in the most cruel and evil way possible".

Just let me remind you that very, very recently Israel was attacked by missiles on a daily basis, what of course is no excuse for Israels idiotic settlement policy but has to be considered. And as funny as it might sound Israel is still a source of stability in this region. The neighboring countries aren't best friends either and if it wasn't for Israel as a bigger enemy they wouldn't have stayed friendly for too long.
It's illusional to think that without Israel there would have been a nice Palestinian State and everyone around would just let them be.

I hope we can agree that it's in the best interests of the (western) world if Israel remains untouchable since otherwise conflict is ensured which would further destabilize this region. Which might be the main reason for supporting Israel (besides the big jewish conspiracy in the government of course......).

If this were the "Fashionable genocide olympics of all time", they'd be second to the Nazi's anyway.

Yes they got along wonderfully..

For the benefit of the Al Jaz viewers among us, here is a history lesson.. The original inhabitants of the area known as Palestine/Israel are not the Palestinians or the Israelis but a people known as the Canaanites.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canaanites

Now there are a few crazies who claim to be Canaanites but it's generally accepted by non-crazies that the ancestors of the Israelis killed them all. Thus the Canaanites are pretty much the equivalent of North America's Native Americans while the Israelis AND the Palestinians are the area's "white people." I don't care if your holy book tells you that you are "the one" or how much all unbelievers must die, this is history.

Now for the idiot who claimed that Israelis living in Israel is like if Native Americans suddenly kicked out all the white people, hispanics, and black people out of the United States. White people can go back to Europe. Black people have various African nations. Hispanic people have the southwestern US, Mexico, and Spain depending on their preference. Palestinians have....Palestine. Israelis have...Israel. See the difference?

This is not a children's game where if you don't "pick a team" you are a peacenik. This is a real conflict, not a game. If the US didn't restrain Israel, they would pretty much kill every single Palestinian till the 5 guys left blew themselves up. If the Palestinians had Israel's weapons, they'd go crazy too. They both have their respective atrocities as well. Palestine has Munich and Israel has the Lebanese civil war. Go look that stuff up.

most of them got along pretty well though, well compared to nowadays anyway.

uh oh.... *cancels all gaming credits*
(like real world politics can't be considered a game....:? (only the odds and and goals are bigger.

hearsay. it's not like the Israelians were the first to attack as a nation.
And the Lebanese civil war had some more fractions than zionist related.
Christians may have something to think about as well if this is considered a jewish offfence.

Actually yes the Irsaelimonians (chuh chuh chuh) were because the formation of the occupation was an attack in of of of itself. Also, read about terrorist bombings in the Middle East pre-Israel.
Of course, the biggest head scratcher is why in god's name a country that has had such well documented troubles on the receiving end of genocide seek to kill off an entire race in the most cruel and evil way possible, and still have the backing of the entire Western world...

Wait a minute, hold everything. Never_Scurred is afraid Obama is going stir shit up with Iran? Has he seen the video of McCain singing 'Bomb Bomb Bomb, Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran' to the tune of the Beach Boy's Barbara Ann?

^ True...while I've got plenty of reservations about Obama and his insistence on rolling over and dying for the conservatives in shameful fashion in the name of "bipartisanship" (seriously, if the last several years are any indication, that's really all it's come to mean...of course, this still doesn't stop the cons from labeling him the "most liberal" senator, which is as big a load of BS as any dropped in this campaign season), he's still far more sensible (or at least, you know, informed) on most fronts than McCain. So how's that conflict on the Iraq-Pakistan border going, especially since the surge helped jump-start the Anbar Awakening?

Be that as it may, though, it doesn't make me like Obama's lack of hesitation to "reach across the aisle" (read: kowtow to the most lame-brained right-wing talking points you can find, even when they've been unquestionably refuted for ages) any more.

I know that the gays caused 9/11 and a few hurricanes, but what about the holocaust? Was that y'all too, or just God punishing the Jews for rejecting Jesus?

Via this statement alone you've proven yourself to be a harder-working and more trustworthy source than 99 percent of the US media...most notably CBS, which helpfully edited out the above gaffe from its interview with McCain, replacing it, in part, with his answer to a completely different question, making no acknowledgment that the segment was edited in any way.

But it doesn't matter, since we know that That Damned Liberal Media is having a love affair with Obama.

Wow, the ignorance in this thread is over the top.

I'm betting that 90% of the posters here have never been to Israel or Palestine. It's obvious enough that people don't even have a rudimentary history of the region and are talking out their asses. Gee, kind of like McCain.

Israel committing Genocide? Then why was there a pullout from Gaza and now a ceasefire holding there? Surely this is an obstacle to genocide?

Jews control the media? So Rupert Murdoch, owner of Fox news, the most unashamedly right wing news in the states, is a jew? Judging by names alone, there's maybe 3 Jews out of 15 on the New York Times board of directors: http://www.nytco.com/company/board_of_d ... index.html

Maybe people should try to understand American support for Israel in the following ways:

1. Support for a progressive society with free elections, trade unions, women's rights, independent judiciary and more.

2. Support for Israel as a consequence of the second world war

3. Cooperation in counter-terrorist operations, training and surveillance.

Point three is hardly politically neutral and unambiguously connected with American imperial interests in the region. But the same could be said for Egypt, a country that America sends a lot of aid to, in exchange for the right to torture terrorism suspects in its jails.

20% of the board, eh? Way out of proportion to their numbers in society.

No wonder they got away with 9/11

FYI to whomever doesn't realize it, 100% of the things I've said in this thread, jews controlling the media included, have been tongue in cheek.

New York City is 12% Jewish. Not too far off.

Why did al Qaeda claim responsibility for 9/11? You are no different than a Holocaust denier. Blinded by your hatred.
