Have you ever learned anything from a video game?

Katamari Damacy really tought me a lot (not only english vocabulary).
Usual things like hot coffe or a slottet spatula really can be interesting, if you read all those comments to the objects, you've already rolled up.
It doesnt happen the first time that i endet up digging in the collection again.
Hidden jokes included!

i learned (some) german from a dubbed version of resident evil back in teh days.. beat the game without a guide or anything, all in 100% german.. took me ages with a dictionary in one hand (i especially remember the gallery, what a bitch that was!).
quite proud of that actually, and what an excellent way to learn a language, i learnt more from that week of playing than all my friends who studied it in school at that age ever did.
too bad the japs dont use roman letters or i would have been fluent in that language by now

the destruction of everything, is the beginning of something new. your whole world is on fire, and soon, you'll be too..
I learned lots of funny ways to kill myself
Now I have so many options available!
(I say that because a classmate way back in high school once said, "dude, if there were no consequences and you couldn't actually die, I would kill myself in so many funny ways;" taking the Groundhog Day theme someplace interesting for once)

Super Mario Bros. taught me not to hit my head on bricks.
Seriously, though, I actually learned what the word "bungalow" meant from NES Deja Vu. I was playing it and I asked my Mom what the word meant.

"Farewell to false pretension
Farewell to hollow words
Farewell to fake affection
Farewell, tomorrow burns"

I was (and still am I guess) a really bad speller. The original version of hero quest where you had to type in what you wanted your character to do taught me lots of basic spelling and also self taught touch typing.

MGS games taught me to sneak
Robinson's Requiem and the Lost in Blue games taught me to survive on deserted islands
Trauma Center taught me to perform surgical operations like removing tumors
Phoenix Wright taught me how to act in court and expose contradictions and lies
Shmups didn't teach me anything, but I had fun

Before Pope John Paul died he decreed that Aliens were also GOD's creatures and we should treat them with respect.

The World Ends With You taught me that I should carry around stylish-looking pins as weapons.
Castlevania taught me to raid walls for pot roast.
Pop'n Music taught me how to play a nonexistent instrument consisting of 9 big colorful buttons.
I Wanna Be The Guy taught me that touching fruit will cause me to explode into a mess of blood and that jumping into a sword makes me retarded.
La-Mulana taught me to carry around an MSX laptop if I ever venture into ruins.
Super Smash Bros. taught me to take the form of a humanoid fox and meet up at a flat, featureless platform in space to settle conflicts.
