Pretty much any genre with bosses: bosses that make you fight a bullshit weak form and then reveal their ridiculous "true form". Bonus annoyance points if there are even more than two forms and/or if each transformation is accompanied by a mandatory cutscene.

-Creepy ghost/zombie kids in horror movies, crawling out of wells, down the stairs and doing other shit that stooped working after Ringu.
And if I hear a nursery rime such as ring around the rosies on more time in a horror movie, I'm going to stop watching it in disgust.

-Zombie/Vampire/Werewolf movies featuring "a new breed". "Retarded breed" is more like it.

Goes both ways doesn't it? Moderation between the two extremes makes a gamer happy and fulfilled.
That said, I do not own a current generation console. But I feel no rush getting on, plenty of games left to finish from the previous one until prices are lowered and the game libraries grow.

...another cliche I despise is when in RPGs you start with a full fledged character and then, after having spoiled 3/4 of the spells and most powerful weapons/armours/attacks, you get hurled to lvl 1 so that the game can have a proper beginning.
That's the most irritating thing ever. And having just bought Breath of Fire III for PSP, I had this very bad feeling again.

Replace X with fighting, racing or whatever adrenaline-pumping activity. Often shows up in fighting anime/manga, but can appear in other genres and movies as well.

- If the male protagonist is being accompanied by a female, they must kiss each other/have sex at some point.
It seems that a male and a female cannot work together or do any activity without feeling attraction for each other. This one plagues movies and there are very few exceptions to this rule.

And one that plague videogames:

- The boss that becomes stronger the more damage it takes.
A cliche pretty much taken for granted. You damage the boss/destroy its parts/disarm him, and instead of crippling, it actually becomes more dangerous.

Traitional western gun vs katana. Blocking bullets with a sword, cutting barrels off guns ect...

I think it stems from the pride and symbolism of the swordsman. It must have been quite disheartning to feel that such a powerful and traditional weapon is weak.
