Jasper has been out only a relatively short time though, but the die shrink from 90nm to 65nm alone is enough to warrant it will last longer than previous models. I suppose if no one reports having been RRoD'd within the first couple of days is a good sign too. Mines still good even after playing DS for many hours in 90+ degree weather, in a closed roomoriginalz wrote:I'm pretty sure that there have been no reports of a Jasper unit Red Ringing so far.ROBOTRON wrote: You'll be waiting a long time. also launch 360s have made it thus far, but these people can actually take decent care of them so

It's not a matter of decent care. I had a brand new launch 360 red-ring less than 12 hours from the time it was first turned on.lgb wrote:also launch 360s have made it thus far, but these people can actually take decent care of them so

I pretty much agree with you. It's nice looking, but pretty monotonous. I've tried a couple of times to get into it, but there's just something wrong with the gameplay that puts me off.Thunder Force wrote:I have gone back a couple of times lately to play this forgotten shmup (PS3 version tested). Each time I still enjoy seeing the fractal/psychedelic "liquid color" visual effects this game has going on. Some of the music is not too bad, in an Aphex Twin sort of way either, at least it seems to suit the game.
Gameplay depth is probably the weak link here, but there's a "Hardcore" mode which ramps up the excitment level somewhat, I would recommend that mode instead of the default. The gameplay is unusual but actually not bad once you get used to it. The closest parallel I can remember to this gameplay flow is Sinistar. Once I get into a rhythm with the game, I find myself looking forward to the next boss battle dogfight. I think I'm going to post a question on the Strategy forum to clarify some points I don't fully understand. There's a whole bunch of unlockable game modes I haven't even seen yet...

Oh sure, there will be a few cases where the 360s drop dead on contact, but I still believe that taking decent care of a launch 360 will have it going for a lot longer than most would.Thunder Force wrote:It's not a matter of decent care.
