Anyway, Futari is actually a good suggestion.
Indeed. Original mode is a quick pick up and play game that's not too hard, while Maniac mode offers a greater challenge but more flashy graphic effects. And of course there's Ultra mode for shits and giggles.

More shits than giggles, I'd say.
I can only imagine someone's reaction to putting 50 cents into futari ultra and game-overing within 30 seconds.
Who says anyone's going to try Ultra first? I'm sure most will start with Original, which isn't remotely as assrape as Ultra, and I think even easier than Ketsui's first loop (don't quote me on this, haven't played either).

Oh, I'm quoting you! Because you're right. Original isn't even near as hard as Ketsui's first loop. Many people clear original after a handful of credits.
Maniac mode is more on par with Ketsui's first loop difficulty.

Yeah, I don't see a whole lot of financial risk here. The PCB should hold its value unless the game gets emulated. So even if it doesn't make much money, the arcade owner could sell the PCB and probably get back as much as they paid for it.
As for me, I don't see myself coming up there specifically to play it, but I'd almost definitely put a few bucks into it whenever I come up that way for a shmup meet. Usually the meets start in the late afternoon or early evening, so I'd probably spend a couple hours at the arcade beforehand since I'd be driving up that way anyway. It's still kinda out of the way, but c'mon, it's Ketsui.
