Screw the English translation, his name is Dias (like the Star Ocean 2 character). But good pick for avatar. Anyway, Shinobi III is on the Sega Genesis Collection as well; well worth getting if you have a PS2.

You know, I've never played Shinobi 3
it's the best one.... i loved them all but i went nuts over the revenge of shinobi and it's yuzo soundtrack. but 3 plays the best and looks awsome to.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

One cannot forget the horse stage and the water stage of III.
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Also overlooked is Shinobi Legions on the Sega Saturn.
look past the digitize graphics -- the game play is just like Revenge of Shinobi and Shinobi III.

I regret that I don't give Legions a chance until last year.

Legions is a lot more swordplay oriented than Revenge/Shinobi 3 though. Also, for some reason they made the double jump timing more like Revenge, when Shinobi 3's style was a vast improvement.

Am I the only one who thinks that the one-hit-kill Shinobis are the only 'real' Shinobi games?

Don't get me wrong- I like the others too, but I grew up with the original Shinobi in the arcades, and the 'Rolling Thunder'-style play is just more fun to me; feels more ninja-esque to know that you can't be touched by anything or you'll die. Plus the bonus stages were cool.

I prefer the original and arcade Shadow Dancer play style as well. The others improved on the formula but they also stray very far away from the way it feels to play those two. This reminds me that i've never finished Shinobi Legions so i might fire it up tonight since i'm home sick and my 360 is at a friends house.

Shinobi and Shadow Dancer are 2 fine games I'd say the Finest but then again I'm baised.. I must say I think he should have had his white mask on the first Arcade Shinobi as he did on every other Shinobi, thist would own me even more..

At the moment I'v 1 credited the Arcade Shinobi and Shadow Dancer more times then everyone else on this forum has had hot dinners.. I always used to cheat on the Megadrive and get loads of lives on the beginning of stage 4 on the conveyer belt, get to lives die and repeat.. And just use Mijin on the Godzilla boss..

I'm gonna sign up for that forum and email that kid lots of pictures off me killing Bladesaw Babe. Anyway Bladesaw Babe said my forum is far superior and I am far hotter and infinitleythen what he is.. :P

I need to get Gaiares. I heard it's one of those that plays in Japanese in JP mode and English in EN mode. That Genesis collection is nice and supports progressive scan too. There are odd sound glitches in some games, though. I like how it has some arcade games in it. The collection got me into Gain Ground. I need to find the Genesis or MD cart of that.

I have problems to liquidate the young woman in boots on the Statue of Liberty in stage 3-3 from the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive game Shadow Dancer.
Could anybody give me tips for eliminating the girl?
I would be very grateful for every help.

Here you can see a screenshot from the girl.

You got it on the first point; doesn't affect anything besides the intro and ending though. And yeah, there are many limitations in the SGC (streamed sound is really annoying in PSIV) but it does the Shinobi games justice. Finally, if you enjoyed Gain Ground, I'd recommend Gain Ground SX; it's probably the definitive home port (don't be suckered into paying high prices though).

I actually prefer the zoomed-out view on the Genesis Gain Ground to the close-up version on Gain Ground SX. Having to pause to view the whole field is annoying. Also, somehow the chiptunes sound better to me than the CD audio on SX. Arcade version is still the best though.
