No, nor has SNK Japan even made mention of the game.

lol...I am curious as to what is going to be in this collection- and in the Samurai Spirits Anthology as well (it'd be nice to have 1-5,5s, the 2 64 ones, etc etc)

Well the Samurai Spirits Anthology will have 1-6 as seen here :
http://www.the-magicbox.com/0709/game070922c.shtml

no mention of hyper 64 versions . Lets just hope they include them as hidden games or something .

Graphics will be worse on PS2. Sound better, though.
Judging by the treatment of past compilation and retro releases, these companies tend to screw up the resolution. Let's hope they don't with this one.

There's no way in hell to not screw that up! neo geo runs on another resolution. They could do it, but the game would have huge borders all around! If you want neo game, buy a neo! Perhaps for the latter version that run on atomiswave they will get it right, but they will probably not release 480p right? So in that case it will still be blurry hell anyway! coupled with an upscaled resolution.

Good luck!

Just throwing this question out there, but does the japanese Metal Slug Anthology for PS2 have the same controller lag?

Hmm, I'm pretty sure the PS2 is capable of providing us with a competent port with the proper resolution. It's just that developers are too lazy. :(

Yeah, I would agree with that. And I want Prehistoric Isle, Guerrilla War, Crossed Swords, and P.O.W. on there as well.

I can't wait for this compilation! There was one "annouced" earlier for the PS2, but it never got released, or probably even put together, so this is great news! Better late then never, IMO.

I don't think they will make the same mistake twice (i.e. metal slug anthology), support for the classic controller is more than likely.

Where'd you hear the news? I'd be most interested to see the game list...

As of yesterday, the ESRB site had it listed for the PS2, PSP, and Wii (rated T if memory serves).

and who the hell told you that it WON'T support the classic controller??
There was only one reason that Metal Slug for Wii had no CC support: SNK didn't get the necessary tools soon enough (from N) to implent CC support.
This compilations WILL support the CC. otherwise I will make a movie about me eating my NES and post it on youtube

No need to look on magicbox here:
- UNCONFIRMED: SNK Playmore's SNK Arcade Classics Volume 1 is also coming to Wii, besides the PS2 and PSP version. This compilation features a collection of non-fighting arcade classics from SNK.
I guess we can expect the first batch of neo games.
Magician lord
Nam'75
etc.

I wonder how many games will be in the comp. I suspect not nearly as much as in the taito collections.
I think 6.

Please, unfiltered lo-res. All that blur and interlace-flickering that most compilations/ports released during the PS2 era sported give me eye cancer. I want sharp pixels, or I'll stick to my NeoGeo CD.

Slow loading > botched visuals

Any day.

Some neo ports for the ps2 do have 480p! AFAIK Mark of the wolves and the 3D kOF series
The questions is, do we even know it will be neo ports or are they ports of older games.

I dunno...I think we will get the pre NeoGeo arcade games from SNK:
Athena
Crystalis
Ikari Warriors series
Beast Busters
Gang Wars

and stuff

...well, at least I hope the disc contains the pre-NeoGeo games from SNK.
The NeoGeo stuff I prever getting via Virtual Console.

I thought low-res was more like 240p? Most newer TVs (at least in the US) don't support less than 480i and some don't even support that. On PS2, most PSX games and PS2 240p games won't even play right on many newer TVs in component. They play in composite or s-video, but the graphics are upscaled to 480i. Automatic hardware upscaling is often worse because it can result in lag.

you know they will be.... they always are. i'd really like to ask the folks who make that call why they do it or not give an option. do the developers themselves actually find it better looking?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

No, they'd just rather not put in the extra time to have everything display in real low res (although they do almost always let you choose whether you want the filter or not as well as multiple degrees of filtering). And we all know that's an area SNK tends to excel in...

well, my xbox lets me plop a neo cd in it and bam... up on my screen is 480p neo with the scanlines intact.

they could do it just fine.... hell the PS one neo geo samurai 1 and 2 ect look fine..... even the craptacular various ports with severe frame loss still get the resolution right.

i refuse to belive it takes MORE effort to put it in low res wich the ps2 can do. they do it b/c they think it looks better to them and others for some reason. i mean at least am option would be nice. this is my biggest pet peeve.

I play Neo games on my PC. It's way better than the half assed compilations SNK puts out.

I certainly hope so; Neo Geo games are great, don't get me wrong, but I want plenty of earlier SNK games. Besides which, the VC is already getting Neo Geo stuff. SNK's collections have been fine in the past, but let's all pray that this doesn't turn out like Tecmo's comp!

Never though of checking the ESRB; I'll have to do that in the future.

In case anyone hasn't seen it, I'm just gonna copy and paste what I saw on Insert Credit a minute ago -
SNK has announced all the titles in their upcoming Arcade Classics Volume 1 for PS2 and PSP:
ART OF FIGHTING
BASEBALL STARS 2
BURNING FIGHT
FATAL FURY
KING OF FIGHTERS '94
KING OF THE MONSTERS
LAST RESORT
MAGICIAN LORD
METAL SLUG
NEO TURF MASTERS
SAMURAI SHODOWN
SENGOKU
SHOCK TROOPERS
SUPER SIDEKICKS 3
TOP HUNTER
WORLD HEROES

A lot of these are already available for purchase elsewhere on the PS2 (or virtual console), but it'll be worth it for Sengoku, Last Resort, Shock Troopers, Burning Fight, and Baseball Stars 2. My guess is this'll be at the $29.99 pricepoint instead of the usual $14.99 - simply because there's also a PSP version, and you can't really sell a new PSP game for much less than that..

Yeah, this will replicate a lot of stuff in my collection, but there are definitely a few titles here that make it worth the purchase.

Wow, this actually makes for a pretty good SNK sampler.
