Crying over anything beyond game play is bleh  .
So you have CD/DVD only copies, throwing away the packaging? Sorry, games are sold as a package, hence, all the pretty designs on them. Cut scenes, voice acting, and all that shit is part of the game. The way the graphics are displayed, the audio output, etc. etc., is all part of the whole. If only gameplay mattered, the discs would be sold in clear cases, the characters would be dots, and there would be no music.
I STORE my games in their cases - They are sit on my shelf in a manner where I can read the title (my Japan games are literal backwards on the English side). I am not stare at box art. I pull game out and place in console and play away.

Box art cannot make or break a game for me I am sorry. If translation is poor engrish than that can be a issue of another kind , cinama cut sceens and such yes that may pose problem. That is issue about GAME PLAY.

I am a player of video games. I enjoy pressing buttons and viewing my television screen. If I were to worry about box art I would never be the Turbo Grafx 16 afficiando that I am - TG16 is have terrible art but great games!

Some have "JAPANESE OR IT SUCKS!" mentality, others wouldn't care where it came from, or if the game came in a blank cartridge. You'll get a lot of different views on the subject. But frankly, you'll be the one who has to weigh the pros and cons for each game, and what you're getting for the price. Be sure you look around for reviews or articles that give insights on any changes made between the import and domestic releases, and basically... just do your homework, and go from there.
This is good advice and viewpoint.

If I had the US version of Shikigami 2, I'd definitely leave the cut scenes on.
The dubbing is horrible on Shikigami 2, it's just so horrible that it's hilarious!

Never said artwork could make or break a game. It is definitely worth pointing out when it's shitty though. The other things (bad audio/video/bad porting, etc) definitely can though. Sometimes it sucks being a connoisseur.

Yeah, but that's when I play tate. For the most part I just yoko it because I'm lazy like that.
