Help me choose 3 DC shmups.
While Ikaruga feels like a marathonic run through a minefield while reciting a few thousand digits of Pi (3.1416... ), Shiki 2 is more like walking in that same park, hearing the crunch of the dry leaves in autumn, while looking into the eyes of the girl you love, and the wind caresses your face and floods your nose with scents that will form everlasting memories.
Try it. You won't be regret either.

That recommendation is almost as pretentious as a Treasure plot concept.Specineff wrote:While Ikaruga feels like a marathonic run through a minefield while reciting a few thousand digits of Pi (3.1416... ), Shiki 2 is more like walking in that same park, hearing the crunch of the dry leaves in autumn, while looking into the eyes of the girl you love, and the wind caresses your face and floods your nose with scents that will form everlasting memories.

Ouch. While it's certainly not for everyone, I think it can be acknowledged for its above average aesthetics and presentation. Though I will say, if you are going to slam it, that's atleast a creative way to do soSpecineff wrote:... and I also love Shiki 2... just more.

Good point. Ikaruga is a bit abstract and formal. Still very good, just very different from the otherworldly pleasures of SNS2.Specineff wrote:While Ikaruga feels like a marathonic run through a minefield while reciting a few thousand digits of Pi (3.1416... ), Shiki 2 is more like walking in that same park, hearing the crunch of the dry leaves in autumn, while looking into the eyes of the girl you love, and the wind caresses your face and floods your nose with scents that will form everlasting memories.

(I would rank Giga Wing 1 about 4 spots higher than I did in that one topic. Whoops.)

Bleh, I couldn't disagree with you more. Ikaruga is pure bliss, SNS2 was a bore. I played Ikaruga for over 2 years (500+ hours), while I got sick of shiki II in about a week. No comparison. But I realize everyone is different... [/my opinion]
As regards to the original topic, border down is fun if you fancy a very challenging hori. Worth owning, and you can't find it anywhere else but on the Naomi hardware! Getting sorta expensive nowadays, though a recent copy on ebay went for $70, which is only $10 more than when it sold new, so, not bad really. Mars matrix is fun, and I hear psyvariar 2 is good. Since you already have ika and ZG2, those would be my three recommendations.

1. Border Down- fast paced hori shooter with a remix mode and nice graphics/ sound.
2. Mars Matrix- Lots of extras and damn addictive IMO.
3. Shikigami 2- Diverse character selection and maxed out power at the beginning (so glad they removed the power-ups of part 1). Well-crafted game if marred by some slowdown and a bit more fog than needed.
4. Psyvariar 2- I personally enjoy it alot but as stated it's a game that requires being played a set way, there's some pacing issues I have with the game and the last boss is underwhelming.
5. Gunbird 2- Great looking game, a quality title. It kicks my ass though
.
6. Giga Wing 2- Fun game to play for score, great soundtrack too.
7. Chaos Field- I really want to hate this game. The controls are rigid and graphics are horrid, yet everytime I play it I end up doing so for 1-2 hours. Has to be something there... *-neo

Nah, stage 5's. Seemed like a lazy rehash of the original game's design and bullet patterns. *-neoRob wrote:The real last boss (area 6)? I thought Gluon had cool patterns.neoalphazero wrote:4. I'd say get
Marks Matrix
Gunbird2
BorderDown
The 3 best shooter on the DC easily, and will last you AGES.
