Me too. I mean, we haven't had any gameplay footage to conclude that the action is not fast-paced. Not to mention that screens, almost always, only show part of what the final product is.

They are using designs and words and ships straight out of Thunderforce. Craw, Syrex, Fire Leo... all that stuff. Aren't they going to have to credit someone at somepoint or something to produce this title? I mean... it is supposed to be sold right?
Yeah, using copyrighted characters is commonplace in Doujin games, which are, indeed, sold at a profit. How is this, you ask?
Because Japanese companies aren't assholes about enforcing intellectual property rights. They know these games encourage a fan community and don't harm them, so they don't do anything. Even though they have the legal right to. Amazing, isn't it?

That, and perhaps Technosoft is dead and the actual copyrights' holders don't know/care.
I see however that they use some non-copyrighted words like craw, but never write "thunderforce".
Pics are kind of a letdown, but then again, Raiden III looked like shit too before we saw it in motion. Anyway, I still have hopes for a console release of sort.
Gungriffon Geona wrote:this looks like crap. I mean, why exactly use such a horridly bland environment?
It's the surface of the moon. We can't expect crystalline towers nor lush-green forests, can we?
So if the level was just a giant checkerboard, that would be ok, because what else could a checkerboard look like, right?
And it does look like shit even for what it is. Two looping 2D parallax layers and a flat plane for the ground. Come on.
Complete lack of ambition is no excuse. There should at least be some interesting stuff going on in the foreground or something. Everything looks so bare, so simple... It's not very promising, but here's hoping I'm wrong.
I'd rather have them make the game solid, fun and worthy of the "Thunder" name, than waste their time rendering every single infinitesimal speck of moon dust on the windows of the lunar city's buildings. The Saturn version's water in the first level of TFV was a single bitmap extended into the horizon, and that didn't make the game any less fun, did it?
On the other hand, that drab moon surface may be littered with 32 layers of parallax for all we know. Have a little faith!

The guy who posted those screens said that the game is still in development and that we should disregard the inequal quality of the screenshots as it is not what the final product will look like
Everyone always says that, and they never improve/change once it's eventually released.
Hey I didn't say take those words as given, I just posted the info as what it was.
What the fuck could anyone possibly be bitching about? This is a very early picture if I'm not mistaken. Not really bad at all. The surface looks realistic. The space backdrop looks sexy. The haze in the background helps. The ship looks around the right size. What? YOU KNOW the game is going to freestyle haul ass at the beginning ala 4 and 5! So, be patient!
Yeah, there are little to no enemies on the screen and very little firepower demo, but hell you wanted SOMETHING to prove it was a real game and there you go!
To heck with all the naysayers! I'm dancing!

It could turn out great or it could turn out crap, actually no one will know until we see more. Personally I am confident that the game will be fun.
Ganelon wrote:I dunno now; something about those shots scream "doujin" (which it technically is, but still...). Very nice in-game res there though.
I was thinking the same thing for the gameplay shots, although the title screen, attract, & ship selection screens look more polished. I'm guessing it still needs work.
I had to break out my Saturn TFV last night and go a few rounds. It's like riding a bike... looks a hella lot better than the blurry screens posted earlier but he's still right. The backgrounds aren't really detailed in the least. Matter of fact the more detailed they get the crappier they look.
I'm sure the moon shots here are just an early level intro. Like in TFIV it's just clouds and V is just ocean for a second before the game begins. I like the stars alot...
No_not_like_Quake wrote:The moon is a boring place to shoot shit.
I thought Dead Moon for the PCEngine was a good take on shumping on the moon but for the most part it is a been there done that environment.
Funny, these shotsreminded me alot of Dead Moon. Who knows though, perhaps Broken Thunder's levels will be dynamic in the sense that the scenery changes often per level.
I got the preview disc today, not much but the vid, some pics of renderings, and 3 music tracks.
I'm willing to share em if anyone is interested...
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Hey thanks, there is both a limited edition and a regular edition. I am gonna pick up the limited edition. The screenshots don't look all that great though lol
I freakin' called it. I knew they wouldn't be showing off anything very striking. looks like just another slowly paced Doujin game to me. I WANT to love this, but i'm not sure if it's even possible considering they won't release gameplay videos.
