Let's see..lots of green terrain. Looks like trees in the background. It kinda reminds me of Cotton. The red balls are the options? And in the top left the player status with an icon of the girl being used.

Jeez, this game seems almost unreal. A new shoot-em-up from Konami? And a new franchise as well? It seems almost too good to be true.

Joystiq blog reports touch-screen game features. Seems strange. We can only guess what some people will be trying to touch. Also mentions networked multiplayer mode.

Network multi player touch screen, eh? So the players can touch each other? ;) Too bad girls usually don't play shmups.

And e-Amuse? Might there be unlockable content using this? or just for network stuff?

Awesome news. :)

Together with Muchi Muchi Pork, two completely new shmup games from well known companies getting announced early in 2007. And just a month ago I remember this thread with people going wild that shmups will die in 2007. Luckily they have been wrong, not to mention that shmups will in future still be supported by the homebrew scene or services like XBLA.

And this one will probably see a console port, so chances are good I'llbe able to try this before it's only available in MAME ... in say 6-7 years...?

I can't help thinking this looks like a Treasure production.

I bet this is some cross between a shooter and a seichou simulation/idol management game, where you pick a character and develop it over time, gaining higher skill levels and new items that are saved on a memory card.

It'll probably be pretty gimmicky, and more about the characters and less about the shooting, so don't get your hopes up too high. ;)

Online play would be exciting...if it isn't crapped on.

Those look like penguin turrets to me. Parodius, how I missed thee.

Touch screen without a downgrade? Port it to Wii maybe?

...*groan*, why am I speculating anyway? 'So many barriers before a U.S. release....

...and I'm broke.

Everything seems to pause when its being used. I see no reason why an analog stick couldn't replicate that usage.

Can we say it's part of the Parodius family?

Plays like it.

Holy crap, it's got a Gamera boss :D (Well, kind of). Could those pilot designs be any more generic though?

The powerup system is pure Gradius though. There's nary a color changing bell in sight.

Various photos of the game.

One of them in the right side has some Gradius II influence. ;)

Wow, this game looks awesome. I'm sure a X360 or PS3 port will come later in the year.

It's reassuring to see Konami offering up this game for the coin-op market, particularly since we haven't seen much from them in recent months.

I really like the overall style on this one, that and the fact that I really enjoyed Parodius. Let's hope for a home port of some kind.

Can't wait for this!

The 'Game Over' screen (of all things) looks gorgeous. Every game should use the Gradius font. :P

Let's hope it's as well-designed as GV, eh?

What makes you you so sure of a home port? I'd be thrilled if it did get a home port, but I don't want to get me hopes up for nothing.

Aye, it's fairly uncommon for Konami to neglect to port its canonical stuff; we should remain hopeful!

Then again, they did somehow see fit to deprive our American chums of any domestic Parodius releases... :x

This is a hi-res, polygonal, horizontal KONAMI shmup. The chances of a port are extremely high (I wouldn't be surprised if they already started working on it). Could be X360, PS3, Wii, or even PS2. Who knows.

Also, this is not a 2D, low-res, vertical, non-polygonal Cave game. Those have close to zero chance to be ported these days.
