Toaplan and Taito sold two versions of some of their games in Japan (including, at least, Hellfire and Same! Same! Same!): a two-player simultaneous, instant-respawn version for upright cabinets, and a one-player-at-a-time version with checkpoints for cocktail cabinets. If what you have is a genuine two-player version of Kyukyoku Tiger, it's a version that hasn't been dumped and added to MAME yet--perhaps you could donate your board?chtimi wrote:no the checkpoint, 1P only, grey heli one is kyukyoku tiger.
but it's more complicated, my (original) PCB says kyukyoku tiger and doesn't have check points.

AWJ, i have verified your questions:
Q:is it a jp taito PCB?
A: it is, see next question
Q:does it have the "for japan only" message
A: yes it does
Q:does i allow for simultaneous 2P?
A: yes it does
Q:are 1P and 2P helis red and blue resp. ?
A: yes they are
Q:how are the tank craters?
A: they are small and round like in twin cobra
Q:what are the extends?
A: everything off, they are at 50,000/150,000 every. i had to turn on switch 3 to be at the thread default of 70,000/200,000 every
Q:what is the heli speed?
A: i checked in toaplan shooting battle even if it's not arcade perfect, and it definitely looks more like the faster twin cobra speed.
it is exactly like twin cobra except in name. it is probably a later version, like the FF "international" versions. the PCB says "taito corp. 89".

Oh, please move my score from Twin Cobra to the Kyukyoku Tiger table, as that was the version I am actually playing.chtimi wrote:OK, post a KT score and i'll add itAWJ wrote:Can we have a Kyukyoku Tiger (one-player, checkpoints version) table?

default is fast, but I put it on normal (got shooting battle).llaoyllakcuf wrote:quick question: is the default ship speed for Tiger-Heli (STG Battle 1 version) slow or fast?
I've been playing the Romstar license PCB, and the default speed makes it quite a task to avoid the shots.
Shooting battle users will also have to set extends at 20k/every 80k

Hmm, it's just that I dunno whether it's adjustable on the PCB. But I'll do a few runs on fast and see if I can't catch up a little...chtimi-CLA wrote:heli speed was fast, since it is default anyway it doesn't matter does it? the slow speed is really too sluggish for my tastes.Neon wrote:God...damn...Congrats.
Well, at least I have something to work towards. You did remember to set the heli speed to normal, right?

it is switch #1 on the first set of DIPs. [link]Hmm, it's just that I dunno whether it's adjustable on the PCB.
so according to MAME and Toaplan Shooting Battle 1, the default ship speed is different between the US and Japan versions.
IMO playing on the normal/slow speed requires a more bomb-intensive strategy, since it makes dodging enemy bullets even more difficult.

Wow, considerably more manageable with fast heli speed. My score's been increasing in leaps and bounds and it'll go higher once I learn how not to lose like 5 frigging lives on this one part.
Since it's adjustable on the PCB no need for separate tables, we should do it all with fast. I'd advise getting toaplan shooting battle though so you can enjoy tiger heli with the arrange soundtrack ^_~
