Anyone, he asked me to tell you Dave thanks for the hospitality and that he'll train you up to be a Street Fighter champ anytime.
7th Bay Area shmupmeet (is over)
Yeah, you just missed it, its on the opposite wall between the Spy Hunter and Joust cabs. Kinda hidden, but I couldn't find any other spot for it...I still love that poster.P.H.U. wrote: P.S. Is it just me, or do I remember from the last time being at your place that you had a Blade Runner poster hung in your arcade? Maybe I missed it with all the other prints of Shmups hung all around.
Cool, I didn't know who he was until Rastan78 told me just after you guys left. I still have to check out your place sometime.kage 8 wrote: Anyone, he asked me to tell you Dave thanks for the hospitality and that he'll train you up to be a Street Fighter champ anytime.
Hah! Yeah, no way I'm pulling a car back in there. Even Albert's friend John said he didn't realize it was a garage until he saw the door at the end. Its a tandum, two cars can fit end to end...well not anymore.cigsthecat wrote: Whoa, you've got a full-fledged arcade now! I thought you held these things in your garage. Looks great.

For more pictures just look at threads for previous bay area shmupmeets. I can only take the same shot so many times.caincan wrote:the most Tated gameroom we could see ! ONE picture only on report ?

If you can believe it, I've already bought another Astro City to add to collection, as well as more Cave PCBs and Posters. The next bay area shmupmeet this summer should be huge.

Only if there was someone with the space and arcade cabs of Dave K.'s cailber in the Stockton/Modesto, CA area -- I'd go. ^_~
I'll just stick with the arcade equipement that I have for now. ^_~
My wish is that such a legendary modern day (and endowed with the latest arcade cabinets from Japan, no less than that) arcade be built around the Modesto, CA area except with a Japanese arcade look and feel in overall presentation -- but it will not happen in my lifetime. It would take some serious monetary investors, lots of $$$, a building lease agreement, insurance, time, blood and sweat, good ol' fashioned luck, prayers, and good common business sense to pull off such an grand Japanese arcade themed arcade joint in this day of age. It's possible if one won the lottery -- then this would be a possible reality indeed.
Could such a $250,000-$500,000 or even $1,000,000 USD dollar arcade business venture survive in this day of age? ^_~
What really sucks is that the real last die-hard arcade joint that the Modesto, CA area had was the "Nickel Play" arcade but that closed down in early March or April of 1998...never has been a true arcade joint ever since that last particular arcade closed down for good. It had arcade shmups titles from time to time to check out. ^_~
The sad reality is that less than 2,000 USA-based arcade businesses remain in 2007...sad but true. Back in 1982, there were more than 22,000 arcades across the USA -- a big difference. The USA arcades can never regain their former glory of the golden age of arcades in the early 1980's -- an era never to be repeated again. ^_~
