Excellent start on Ultra mode there! I've been playing it a bit the past few days but haven't improved much.

ULTRA MODE - PALM
48,372,470 - TWE - Stage 2 - Abnormal

I no missed stage 1 (used three bombs) for the first time, with 29 mil. Too bad I did so poorly in Stage 2. Made it a bit past the mid boss.

I switched to Normal Palm in Maniac mode today, and I after two runs I got towards the end of Stage 5 and almost 300 mil.

What are the benefits of Normal Palm in Maniac?

I find him a bit easier to use starting in stage 3. His laser is really strong when powered up and he's quick (but not too quick). Not sure really but I'm finding it a bit easier with him than with Reco at the moment. I mean, I got a bit past the Stage 5 midboss starting the stage with no bombs and no lives left on my first-ever try on Stage 5 with him.

EDIT: Might as well toss up a new Reco Maniac score I got yesterday (only 2 mil higher than my previous one):

Man, I really messed this up:

One death in stage 3, and another in stage 5. Got to the last boss with 3 lives and one bomb, and I managed to mess it all up. Next time I'm just bombing my way to the clear if I get there with that many lives left.

Just got a 1CC in Original with Normal Reco with a score of 235mil, which isn't quite enough to beat my previous score. I was seconds away from beating it with one life left (which would have put me over 245mil), but alas, couldn't quite make it. I had one death in Stage 3, one in Stage 4, I no missed Stage 5, then lost the rest on the last boss.

On a run I've scored an average of 60millions only on Maniac stage4. But for now only crap on this stage

Just have to think now on scoring spot for Stage4 boss.

This could have been a LOT better. I died on the Stage 2 boss (I never die here), then no missed up until the part before the final descent on Stage 5 where I managed to die THREE TIMES, then made it to the last form of the final boss but couldn't pull out the clear. I got the counter up to 43,000 for the first time though (first time I've broken 40K actually).

Even with bad fuck-ups, I'm getting 200k early in stage 3... and somehow screwing it all up.

The guy that I've been modelling my play after, I have learned, is kind of a newbie shooter. He says, "I just started with Shikigami no Shiro III". He had played ESPgaluda II but only gotten 200 million w/ a clear. When I told him I got 500 mil he freaked, and when I told him the world record he almost shat his pants.

On that note.
He had never tried Ketsui or DOJ. I played Ketsui, explaining the scoring and how it was similar to ESPGaluda II (the proximity thing). He watches me play a run -- I get t the first of stage 4. He plays... kind of between scoring and survival, and gets to the fucking 4th stage boss his first time.

I tried out Abnormal Palm again in Original mode just for fun, here's what I got after 1 credit:

ORIGINAL MODE - PALM
273,134,284 - TWE - ALL (Lx3) - Abnormal

No miss up until halfway through Stage 5. I got through the first two phases of the last boss without dying, then died once on the last phase. Managed to end with 3 spare lives for a nice 30 mil end bonus.

I got to the last boss with 1 spare life and 1 bomb in tow, and I managed to get to the last form of the boss before I lost my last life. I think if I come in with two spare lives I could clear it. I have a pretty good path through Stage 5 now, so hopefully the clear will come soon.
