Chorensha 68K (New Thread)
Re: Chorensha 68K (New Thread)
Gave this another credit since longtime and surprisingly beat my old score, and yet my position on the scoretable remains the same.

Nice little game I didn't know about. For some reason the music is choking all the time here, it's really annoying.

Apparently some of doujin shmups have trouble running on a dual core processor (like Kamui) need to have this program run first: http://www.activeplus.com/Products/RunFirst
hope this helps,

I fixed the sound problem by toggling win98 compatibility on the .exe.

Ruldra - 10,492,002 - ALL
Finished with no lives left and no bombs in stock. Holy crap that was close!

New highscore after years. Doesn't put me up in the rankings, guess I have to try it in 2013 again.

Oh right, I played this for ~*~Shooter of the Week~*~

BaitySM - 17,362,793 - ALL - dork
To recap / summarize what happened in this run, it was basically making it to 3-0, dying on the boss and then taking on the TLB with a peashooter. Other people (you know who you are ::glare::) should submit as well.

Re: Chorensha 68K (New Thread)
How is a replay created for this game and how is it played?
Re: Chorensha 68K (New Thread)
The replay is auto-saved every time you finish a run (NB: overwrites automatically so be sure to backup if you want to preserve your runs); it's the run that's shown as the demonstration which plays after a certain amount of time when you don't do anything on the main screen. From the game folder go into the "ETC_DAT" folder and you should see it there, marked as "DEMO.REP".
To (re)play other peoples' replays, you overwrite the original .REP file with the one you downloaded.

Threw together something that wouldn't seem out of place.
Despatche - 3,126,948 - 1-6
1-2 was amazing, would take again.

edit: Despatche - 3,947,548 - 2-0
Stage 0 is rough.

This is an old score I dug up, but it is not my personal best. My actual best is 22.5mil, three miss, all on the TLB.
Can't seem to find the replay anywhere in my archives, however. :/

First time i clear the first loop, I feel so realized because i wasn't even trying, It was the first credit of the day, I booted the game up to chill a bit and bam doubled my score and looped the game

I could have done better but i was texting between stages and i lost some focus, I'll get the ALL someday

Funny how the score I posted previously is actually my fourth-best score, according to the score data file. Drop these files into "ETC_DAT" in the Chorensha root folder, but back up your own files first.
Replay's been captured and going up on YT as well: http://youtu.be/QaKoHjCSnuo

Re: Chorensha 68K (New Thread)
Just played one credit today after a while... been wondering why I haven't even cleared the first loop in this. Obviously because I could never ever make a run without getting interrupted. I thought this game had no pause button, but I guess I found it after all.
So expect a mediocre first loop clear soon!

Need more practice. I had a surprising run, no miss up to the last boss, but then got raped by him and the suicide bullets in the 2nd loop. But it's a start...

Messed up a lot in the first loop, but still got to the TLB. Was a short fight though as I had no lives or bombs left.

Yay, that was way better than expected...
Battletoad - 15,086,650 - ALL
Somehow I lost no life in the 2nd loop up unto the very end of stage 6 (shortly before the boss). Plenty more deaths followed, especially on the true last boss which I mostly just bombed, but the ALL was never in danger. I also got most bonusses on the first loop. So this might be my final score... Awesome game though! Only the powerdowns after a death are as stupid as ever.

Congrats on the ALL! This game indeed is very awesome. I keep coming back to this little gem from time to time.

Great game. I'd say i was lucky this time with staying alive until stage 6 boss. Everything went quickly downhill from there where i lost all 5 lives. My previous best was 2.9mil.

This guy ate up my lives pretty quickly.
BKR - 4,448,846 - 2-0 boss
Why does the second loop start at 2-0? ._. Fun game, though grabbing three powerups instead of one really takes practice! I'm actually getting pretty good... but I totally ignore that when a 1up appears. You seem to take quite a drop in power when you die, really makes not getting killed during bosses important...
Re: Chorensha 68K (New Thread)
it's just the way stage 0 works, it's a bit of a joke: the "explosion" you see when you start a game is the stage 0 boss exploding.
