Easy game, but I'm happy to finally be done with Gradius III SFC. This one really tested my patience, boring aside from heaps of nearly unavoidable deaths your first time learning the game. Particularly the first door of the speed rush in this game is utter bullshit, and I never really feel like playing the boring stuff that leads up to it again after being fucked by it.

Now I'll be moving into something I actually enjoy I think. I really need to finally finish Metal Black.

ALLed BioMetal on defaults. Not a hard clear, but not a first credit affair. Great game with great music, the G.A.M. mechanic is a whole lot of fun and interesting. I think I want to keep going on higher difficulties.

Sadly hard mode is nearly identical to normal.

A 1 life clear on the game would be fun. It's also totally possible to 1 life clear the game without using Gam, though I personally enjoy the mechanic too much to pass it up.

Ah yeah, I just got the Hard clear now. Big difference is those zako that shoot randomly shooting like 3x the bullets, and everything being a tad faster.

And yeah, GAM is way too fun to avoid using heh.

Cleared the first loop of DOJBL with A-Exy. About three weeks of methodical (and at times intense) practice finally paid off. Only gone back to playing full credits like two days ago, so it's nice that I got it relatively fast. This is easily the most difficult game I've played in my short shmupping career, but it was so worth it. Still had to play like a coward and control rank best as I could, but I'm still pretty bad, so that's to be expected.

Not sure what to do next. Maybe I'm now ready for a Touhou Lunatic? I quite like PCB, which is supposed to be one of the easiest ones.

^^^Congrats.

As for toohoos, Mountain of Faith Lunatic was my first, I find it a lot easier than PCB. PCB wrecks my shit mostly because Alice is one of the most brutal stage 3 bosses I've ever encountered.

Personally I find the Lunatic Touhou's are quite a bit harder then most Cave 1-alls. Doj BL 1-all is a lot easier in comparison IMO.

Congrats cwm, nice one!! I'm working on doj bl now. It is pretty hard, I'm pretty close to clearing, my progress has been slow and steady... Although I haven't played as intensly as in the past but I'm looking forward to getting this one out of the way!

I might as well join in on the BioMetal frenzy and post my run, I just did a 1LC on hard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjlDW3PWfQk

Practiced the game for about a week playing a few times a night, got a pretty good score too on top of not dying (which was my only real goal, since this game is very short).

I had much more trouble with MoF lunatic than PCB and SA Lunatic because of Cherry and ReimuC respectively. Kanako wrecked me pretty good. But she's also lots more fun than Yuyuko and Utsuho.

Hey everyone, it's been a while since I was last here! Well, it took me long enough to get, but I finally got my 1st Lunatic 1cc of Undefined Fantastic Object! :D

Man, this game is really as rough as they say it is in Lunatic mode. They sure weren't lying, when they generally say UFO's the hardest windows Touhou game to 1cc in Lunatic (Putting aside the scoring runs, the various special challenges out there, etc.)!

This sure took a while to get (I started to work on it in June, but stuff happened, and I didn't get to seriously work on UFO Lunatic until earlier this month), but yeah, I finally got it! I did this with Sanae Kochiya, with her B shot-type, for this one! ^^

My 1st Lunatic 1cc of Undefined Fantastic Object!

Great work all.
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

Cleared AC Gradius III beginner course normal mode with wait off.

Hell, the wait off makes stage 2 and 3 (and later stages too) are "nice adventure" and I felt got some lucky when through this stages. And yes I timed out Big Core mk.III cause I scared with his second pattern

Cleared Futari BL Original. I would like to thank Cave for making the console port region-free, ZUN for teaching me how to tap dodge aimed bullets, and Dr. Trouserplank for inspiring me to spend over 200 hours on this impossible game.

In all seriousness, this was a great game to relax with a bit after the rigidity of DOJ. I did very little stage practice, and basically got through all of it via simple streaming. The clear was still a comedy of errors, and I look forward to improving it and maybe scoring in the 500s or somesuch, as the scoring system appeals to me much more than DDP style kill chaining.

I think this is the easiest Cave clear I've experienced, but the game is also really fun on a basic level, so I can see why it gets so much love. Only real criticism I have is the slowdown being very erratic and annoying to deal with, and ground enemies sometimes being hard to see.

1cc'd Darius (Extra Ver) on ACFJNSX route.

I was also semi blind, having made it up to stage 6 on the upper route, but never have touched the bottom before. Went into the bottom route totally blind (and also against the last two bosses) and managed to pull out an incredibly clutch 1cc/1 life clear. Had no shields almost constantly.

Those little guys who teleport in front of you and shoot fast blue bullets are terrifying, I tell you what.

Cleared the first loop of Salamander 2! :D
I used the 2P side, which is apparently more powerful than the 1P side. I also suicided once, which seems to affect the rank.
I got up to 2-2 afterwards and I'm pretty proud of this achievement for my first post on the forum!

Finally decided to download Omega V this past Friday. Played it on off all weekend and was constantly making stupid mistakes. Late Sunday night, I was messing around on my Japanese Live account and figured, what the hell, I'll unlock a few achievements.

First credit, all clear.

Finally got around to 1-alling R-Type 1. Now I have the holy trinity/original generation of horis down (Gradius 1, R-Type 1, Darius 1).

In difficulty I'd rate R-Type > Darius > Gradius.

Nice. I still need to clear R-Type arcade and Darius 1 (I don't think a console port exists though :()

Speaking of R-Type, I literally just finished off the 2-ALL for R-Type III. Had some really stupid deaths but thankfully extends are given out like candy in this game. Still, dying in the wrong spot, especially on the last stage, might be a game over regardless of the number of lives you have left.

^^^That's pretty great. What do you think of R-Type 3 overall? I like some parts of it (stage 2 boss, stage 4 boss, the entirety of stage 5 and 6), but find some of its flaws a bit too off-putting to put serious time into it.

My experience with R-Type is basically only with the SNES games (I've only played through the first 4 stages of the first arcade game, haven't played II, Delta, or Final at all). I'd certainly say R-Type III is a hell of a lot better than Super R-Type, which made me want to kill myself at times.

I think they did make some pretty cool changes to R-Type III, including adding multiple force types. I think the 2nd half of the game is actually pretty awesome, but the first half, and especially stage 1 is very dull. I agree with you on the stage 2 boss though, pretty cool (Did you know they censored it in the US version?, he basically shot sperms instead of eyes lol).

Stage 4 boss goes down like a little bitch with the Shadow force and laser, otherwise he's a massive problem on loop 2, especially if you aren't powered up. I think adding a boss rush was actually pretty badass too, seems like a nod to Gradius, and I'm a huge fanboy of those games so that was cool to see. The final boss was also pretty epic and I'm always a sucker for multiple forms.

Anyway, I've had a few beers after finishing that game and I'm rambling so I better stop lol.

Yeah that sounds about right. Game has some great stuff going on, but between the first stage and the obnoxious lava maze memorizer, it's a bit hard to get into.

In difficulty I'd rate R-Type > Darius > Gradius.
Interestingly enough, Gradius receives a massive difficulty spike with the second loop. It's almost unrecognisable as far as the challenge is concerned. R-Type's second loop also contains interesting adaptions but it's not as big of a change, relatively speaking (unlike R-Type II which is almost as radical as Gradius).
I still need to clear R-Type arcade and Darius 1 (I don't think a console port exists though :()
What about Darius Plus & Super Darius on the PCE? Those are most certainly not authentic ports but given the limitations of the hardware I'd say they are fine conversions.

And congratulations to you two! Clearing an R-Type game is always a great experience. :) Reminds me that I really should try to 2-ALL the first three games myself one of these days (got sufficiently close in the case of III, but died on 2-5 and couldn't recover). I'd love to clear both loops of R-Type II (my personal favorite in the series), that's going to take a lot of effort, though...
