I just got the Bllleeeeaaauuurrrrgghhh 7" super cheap (the classic Slap-A-Ham grindcore and power violence compilation). Just amazing. Anybody else listened to this one? It's so infamous, but I resisted downloading it, saving it for the day I found a copy in a record shop - well worth the wait!

Now to find the two squeals on vinyl!

I'm currently digging heavily on:
Darkness Before Dawn - King's To You
Kinetic Element - Powered By Light
Orphan Project - Spooning Out the Sea
Eulogium - The Transcendence of Hope

I just got a big box of music in the mail a week or so ago, and expecting another shipment soon, so those may change :D

I've tried REALLY hard to get into that album ever since Takku recommended it to me, but I can't... Somehow I'm never struck by the urge to listen to it. Lots of other people seem to dig it. Maybe mine is broken or something.

I picked it up based on comments from other people and reviews, and while I think it's good, I don't think it stands up to other bands plying a similar style. In the half dozen or so listens I've given it, i haven't heard many stand out riffs, which I think is the most necessary aspect of good doom.

I bought it years ago when it was first released.:) I haven't listened to it in ages but if memory serves there's about ninety songs on that little 7" slab of wax correct?

The first EP in th series has 69 tracks I think (this is off the top off my head).

Son of Bllleeeeaaauuurrrrgghhh has something like 73 tracks, and the final one has 84.

Yes - they are all 7" inches, but they do play at 33rpm as opposed to 45rpm.

Still most sings are between 6 and 20 seconds long (I think it's 222 tracks in total, and they fly by!).

psyvariar 2 plus and tsume tsume tsume/[f]

"boss #3" sounds like banshiryu

"unused sound #1" sounds like yu miyake/satoru kosaki

"[f]" is based on dragonball z

what the hell

also I mentally renamed all the psy2 songs with a slight basis on IN and ketsui because /there are no real names/

Still stuck on Wilco (the album). FYI, if they're coming to your city/area to play, GO SEE THEM LIVE. Fantastic show in Ann Arbor I went to.

It’s pretty solid, interesting soundscapes and a very talented drummer. It definitely increased my appreciation for metal drumming. Who knew that metal drummers had that much groove? It has a track on it where they tag team back in forth, cool stuff. I could do without Chuck D on it, but he doesn’t bother me that much.

Between the Buried and Me - every single damn thing ever because they're so hot. The Anatomy Of is especially awesome; all covers, as far as I can tell.

Spinning Sunny Day Real Estate's LP2/Pink. Never really been that much into their first, 'Diary', but LP2 is brilliant, this is what the word 'Emo' used to mean.

Seeing as I'm going watching them on Sunday, I'll be playing a lot of Therapy? tonight and tomorrow as well.

been looking forward to this ever since i found out virt, rushjet1, and manabu namiki were going to be on it. the tracks by virt and rushjet1 are both fantastic but i felt that manabu namiki's was (surprisingly) one of the weaker tracks on the album. to be fair that could be because i'm not very familiar with the source material as it's from one of the wily stages in rockman 4, which is one of my least favorites in the original series. my favorite tracks atm, other than the two listed above, are the ones by hally, zinger, kplecraft, and k->

Good choice, Rob. Cianide is awesome.

killtheslavemaster - EP - God, I love this stuff. I wish there were still bands that played the late 90's style tech grind. The band posted it as a free download, you can grab it here.
Dead Eyes Under - Cursed Be the Deceiver - Ditto, only with metalcore instead of grind.

Slayer- World Painted Blood. Very quality, has that classic Slayer sound back.
Keep of Kalessin- Kolossus. Dark and brutal, like it.

Current 93 - Aleph at Hallucinatory Mountain

Highly idiosyncratic and immensley enjoyable. Only listened once, but look forward to many more, especially the spoken word piece with the sympathetically NWW decoration.

Hurry if you want the gatefold vinyl, 300 copies only.

The DOJ ARRANGE soundtrack. So good. Strange Dance (I thought the original was called "Weird Dance") is probably my favorite track on it. So good.

Fantastic. The finale involved Tim having simulated sex with a guy on top of a ladder held aloft by the audience.

FFF Fest day two:

Pack of Wolves
Peligrosa All-Stars
Cedric Burnside and Lightning Malcolm (just for a song)
The Underground Railroad to Candyland
Mika Miko (Last show. Friggin' awesome.)
Youth Brigade

It was at this point, after having stood in the steady, pouring rain for over two hours and soaked to the skin, that I decided to beat a retreat to my house for dry/warmer clothing and an umbrella. About an hour later:

Strange Boys (who played nearly their whole set despite being warned by the stage manager that they could be electrocuted at any moment. The PTB proceeded to close the 'yellow stage', which sucked because King Khan & BBQ were next. Still..., better safe than dead I suppose.)
Torche
Mission of Burma
D.R.I. (minus Felix, unfortunately)
Crystal Castles
Gorilla Biscuits
Danzig

So yeah, overall a good time. The bands tended toward the geezer/mainstream side of things, but seeing all of them together in two days was more than worth the semi-steep ticket price.

Gonna rest up now...
