Completely missed this. Whoa, where heck did you get a stick that lets you do that? Sounds like the best invention ever.Drake wrote:Code: Select all

I've heard about those but then I read that the red buttons are the directional keys and that honestly looks quite uncomfortable, not to say awkward with the up-button being located at the bottom of it.Udderdude wrote:Check this out :3 http://www.hitboxarcade.com/
If you could somehow remap the directional keys to the be on four of the black keys it would be awesome. Does anyone know if it's possible to change the bindings on that thing so that the directional keys could be on the black keys like this:
[ ] [ ] [ ↑ ] [ ]
[ ][←][ ↓ ][ →]
And having the red buttons do things like shooting, bombing etc? That sort of customization sounds like it would make sense to include but it doesn't say anywhere on the website and 225 bucks is a little much to shell out for something I'm not sure works.
Re: DoDonPachi Saidaioujou coming to Xbox 360 (REGION-FREE!)
I believe the idea behind the "up" and "down" button positioning on those controllers is for faster transitions.
For example, on a keyboard layout you've got two separate fingers on left and right, but the same finger uses both up and down. You can rapidly tap left and right for instantaneous transitions, however up/down transitions are a bit slower unless you reposition your hand. By putting up and down on separate fingers you can achieve the same up/down speed as left/right.
Now the real question is, in a shmup would you really need this amount of speed for up/down transitions? Left/right seems useful for high speed tap dodging, and certain games with wiggle mechanics (Psyvariar, XII Stag, etc).

Re: DoDonPachi Saidaioujou coming to Xbox 360 (REGION-FREE!)
Finally booted this up again today. After a few gut wrenching level 10 hyper drops in arcade I decided to plank it large in novice. But after cruising through the first three stages I got cocky and tried to hyper when TAC did instead of when I needed to, and the result was avoidable deaths. But I got to the stage 5 boss which, since I've already got the 1CC, is close enough for this run.
I then played novice expert for the first time and got to the stage 5 boss. I think I must have been in the zone, that mode gets pretty crazy.

Re: DoDonPachi Saidaioujou coming to Xbox 360 (REGION-FREE!)
Just got my copy.
Played through all modes at various difficulties.
360 mode is hella fun. Played it vanilla like until I realized the system was a lot like Futari's arrange mode. Had to turn off the voice though.
HD arcade, <3 love it, really is like super DOJ. only complaint is the backgrounds are hella boring and bland. Not fond of the bloss blobs again. Wish they woulda stayed with the transforming mecha via DFK
What does Sai mean anyway?
1.5 couldn't really see any difference, what are the differences?
Novice, just a novice mode.

If you're comfortable removing quick disconnects and switching them to other buttons, it's easy as hell. I almost always rewire my buttons.Zengeku3 wrote:I've heard about those but then I read that the red buttons are the directional keys and that honestly looks quite uncomfortable, not to say awkward with the up-button being located at the bottom of it.Udderdude wrote:Check this out :3 http://www.hitboxarcade.com/

The most prominent changes:Casper<3 wrote: 1.5 couldn't really see any difference, what are the differences?
* Hypers charge faster
* Low-level hypers are worth a damn
* High level hypers cause everything to puke huge stars

98 pages in this thread that I've largely ignored, and really don't care to read through, so hoping someone can answer this. Does the regular edition come with any DLC codes that unlock arrange or anything else special?

One can also go "full plank".
To go "full-Plank" - colloquial - To experience disproportionate levels of frustration as a result of resistance to completing a task. Those who go "full-Plank" very rarely recover.
Re: DoDonPachi Saidaioujou coming to Xbox 360 (REGION-FREE!)
If nothing else, I have a relative that could probably do that. I'll look into this solution then. Thank you for your answers people.Thjodbjorn wrote: If you're comfortable removing quick disconnects and switching them to other buttons, it's easy as hell. I almost always rewire my buttons.
(and sorry for derailing this

While I cannot say so for sure, i always read the title as Maximum Death or Greatest Death because 最大 = greatest, largest, maximum and 往生 would mean death (among other things)ACSeraph wrote:It means something like super or ultimate. 大往生 is an expression that translates to "peaceful death" where the death was a painless one and the person lived a full-life without regrets.Zengeku3 wrote:While I cannot say so for sure, i always read the title as Maximum Death or Greatest Death because 最大 = greatest, largest, maximum and 往生 would mean death (among other things)

Yes, I am aware of that. I was just thinking that Saidai Oujou would be a pun on DOJs name, especially after listening to Shuri going Saidai Oujou!NTSC-J wrote:大往生 is an expression that translates to "peaceful death" where the death was a painless one and the person lived a full-life without regrets.Zengeku3 wrote:While I cannot say so for sure, i always read the title as Maximum Death or Greatest Death because 最大 = greatest, largest, maximum and 往生 would mean death (among other things)
If what the name is supposed to be is Sai Daioujou then i would find it silly to split it up like that.
But okay, i'm still new with all this japanese stuff so I'll just go be quiet somewhere now.

Sorry if this was mentioned before, but what exactly triggers the stage 4 extend?

It's worth mentioning that you can die a man on him too and still get the extend so depending on your situation you might be better off getting rid of your bombstock before fighting him if you have autobomb on or accepting a death over dropping one with it on since an extend gives you a new man and full bomb stock. Just something to think about, especially for a first clear.

Just a quick question: What size are the original arcade instructions of this game?

Funny thing is I just came here straight from the game to clarify the requirements for this.Muchi Muchi Spork wrote:It's worth mentioning that you can die a man on him too and still get the extend so depending on your situation you might be better off getting rid of your bombstock before fighting him if you have autobomb on or accepting a death over dropping one with it on since an extend gives you a new man and full bomb stock. Are you sure you can die? Admittedly I wasn't exactly paying attention in my last run, but I don't recall an autobomb going off, and I was surprised to not get the 1up after killing it. My first thought was that it must be a NMNB requirement. It's quite possible I just missed an auto somewhere.. It was a shitty run. I'd already tuned out by then.
I go full plank very often.. My posting history is evidence of this.Stevas wrote:Dude, come on.

That would be War: Final Assault, Midway's interesting attempt at making a Quake clone for arcades. Rather similar to Sega's Outtrigger.
It was going to have an N64 port, but it was canceled.
There was a semi-sequel two years later by the name of The Grid. Except it was in third person with a trackball for aiming, and borrowed the "violent game show" setting from Smash TV. This also went unported.
