yeah, youtube is the last saloon for internet arseholes banished from every other place - once they get there they start attention seeking whilst, ironically, accusing everyone else of attention seeking!

"my videos are amazing - yours are almost exactly the same but shit and about the same subject!"

just off yourselves - seriously - maybe even the worlds average IQ would see an uptick! Do it for HUMANITY.

BIL - it's all practice for the future workplace fun of jostling for those bonuses ;)

but yeah - the general thing is that when you are working in teams at Uni/College everyone believes that their piece is the most important.

Or then you get the person who is "well i am going to nothing but i expect full credit"

I'm sure you're right... each group has the option of reporting anyone not pulling their weight and having their grade drop a level, but we're all too nice and the lazy bugger knows it. This is surely the real lesson.

International romance... We 'seem' to have a connection, but we can only speak 1% of the other's language. You nod and say 'yes, hello and goodbye' and my heart and balls grow bluer.

People who refuse to try and do something because they're already convinced that they'll fail. Where I come from, that's called "being a wuss."

To be fair, the opposite extreme--people who believe they can't fail and thus throw caution to the wind--are just as annoying.

I was thinking more about people who are all like "There's no point suing that guy who dumped garbage on our land, he's got money and connections and stuff and we'll lose for sure" (in said case, the person with the defeatist attitude has NO WAY of knowing for a fact that "that guy" has money, connections or "stuff" and is just assuming based on nothing except a woe-is-me world outlook--and insists on this even when you present evidence that their case is in no way unwinnable and in fact all chances are in their favor).

I can kind of understand not playing games you don't have an edge in, when it's--say--something like gambling. I wouldn't risk physical money without having some certainty that I'll get it back.

But for video games or board games that you're playing for fun and nothing is at risk but your self-esteem? That's just being a wuss.

My ex-gf's best friend's boyfriend liked to play Monopoly, as long as he was able to sneak $100 or $500 bills on the side. Honestly, who cheats at Monopoly? This asshole and his incredibly well-meaning girlfriend (whom I respect deeply), decided to try and pull one over on me and my ex. We had even provided them personal lodgings so they would've have to get hotel rooms on their visit. This asshole even decided he wanted to play Katamari Damancy (PS2) by himself instead of playing Super Monkey Ball or Soul Calibur 2, so there might be some live competition.

Pretty sure she dumped this asshole, but that didn't save me from catching crap at the time. Fuck him (ewwww).

Heh. Nothing like a friend who's 1000x better than anyone else at $OBSCURE_MULTIPLAYER_GAME and will barely touch anything that the rest of us have even seen. And then, they proceed to assfuck you.

Full disclosure, none of my friends are that bad [and we all indulge in running roughshod over each other in things the rest of us haven't played on occasion, but we at least have the decency to play things that we're all on common ground with still], but some of them do come a bit closer to that bastard ideal than they should...

Personally I prefer cooperative multiplayer over competitive.

Last time I was at a friend's house, we co-opped through Raiden II (via Raiden Project PS1). We credit-spammed like assholes, and we enjoyed every minute of it. There's something about working with friends to defeat a common enemy that makes you feel so good.

When people refer to a hangar as "hanger". One's for aircraft, the other's for shirts. And no, it's not different spellings of the same word, like with "color" and "colour".

People who spell acronyms with modifiers incorrectly. The plural of PTA is PTAs, not PTA's. If you get schooled by the OED, you've been OEDed, not OED'ed. Also, fucking up who and whom.

No! Worst of all is the less/fewer conundrum. I had to stop watching TNT after their "More Movies, Less Commercials" campaign. Fewer commercials, you assholes. And fuck L&O:SVU while we're at it. "A five year-old boy was found gang-raped and systematically amputated while conscious, and subsequently forced to eat his own barbecued skin."

No sir, I don't like it.

Edit: I realize my comma usage is incorrect. Fuck commas.

Headphone cables. Specifically, how prone they are to shorting at the ends.

Why the hell are they made of pathetic insulated strands of copper around a piece of string with a crapton of plastic around it? I'd kill for headphones that had unwaxed strands, and individually wrapped +/-. So, if they do break, I can quickly fix the damn thing.

Repairing headphones is a pain in the ass.

"My other vacuum cleaner has a light on front."

Also, the word "vacuum." I keep wanting to put an N at the end for some reason.

Actually, I suppose I should put this here. Anybody have any ideas about what I should do? I'd be happy to pay a fee for the cost of warehousing the thing but right now I think it's safe to say that I've done what I can to try and clear this up and the ball is in NFG's court. Hell he even left it that way.

People that think turning autofire on in a shmup is akin to cheating. Yeah, sorry, carpal tunnel syndrome doesn't make you hardcore, there's a reason companies put in autofire like C-button autofire options (not to mention people making autofire hardware).

Especially when morons think C-button autofire in a Cave shmup is akin to cheating. For instance, the best score on MARP for Progear was disqualified for turning the C-button on! :?

Microsoft LANMAN, NTLM, file and printer sharing, and all that horsecrap. It's nice when it works, but I can't tell you how many hours I've wasted over the years trying to make it work by going through random trial and error. The problem is that permissions/authentication work differently on every different version of MS OS. When trying to access a network share, you may or may not be prompted for a username. You may or may not be prompted for a password. You might get in without offering either. You might be denied despite supplying the correct credentials. Does it matter what "workgroup" you're in? Who knows. WfWG asks you to "logon" when you start Windows, I'm not sure what it logs onto. Win98 lets you set a password per resource. NT makes you do it by user, but hope you don't have to change permissions on an NTFS volume and suffer waiting for it to iterate through every individual directory. Win7 won't connect to any of the older OS unless you go in and change some hidden setting to enable the older version of the protocol (which is disabled because of security holes I guess). And even then it is not clear how to create a network share in the gui, thank goodness for the NET command.

Just now I was trying to revive a Dell Mini with hosed SSD. I booted from LAN using a disk image that contains DOS, ethernet driver, and MS network client. I needed to access the XP installation media over the LAN. I tried to map a win2k network share, access denied. OK how about without the password? No. How about with user "Administrator?" No. Fine, how about a win7 network share? Access denied again. So I boot NT 3.51 and create a network share there. It connects. Now I can copy the XP CD files from the 2k machine to the NT laptop, and from there to the Dell...

Microsoft: brilliant at randomly locking me out of my own shit, not so brilliant at actually securing it.

That reminds me of my recent adventure of trying to set up a Samba file server on my LAN for the first time. It was a learning experience as I went along; configuring it and connecting to it from my Linux system was relatively painless, but from my Windows computer, it was a whole other story. Sometimes I had to enter a password or user name to access my shares, sometimes both, and sometimes neither. There didn't seem to be any logic behind it. At times it would connect, and other times it would deny me access and throw a cryptic error message. I also had to mess about with settings in the Local Security Policy, which I've never had to touch prior to then. What really made me waste a few hours was, despite making sure that "Reconnect at logon" was checked prior to mapping my network drives, Windows would refuse to automatically reconnect to them...

...As it turned out, I wasn't entering my username in the correct format. I was entering it simply as username, but Windows wanted it as servername\username. Did the credentials prompt or anything else tell me that? No.

I've had fun with this just migrating old disks to a new OS installation. MS does the same breaking of their own formats with Word - I don't think they deliberately set out to sabotage current users, but it conveniently happens when they go and bloat the software and in the meantime find they have to install a new format, rather than starting out with some kind of extensible, logical format - pretty much everything Microsoft makes has evidence of this cobbled-together, unfocused and unsustainable approach, IMO. Maybe DirectX and a few other core components aren't like this, maybe.

I just got DOJBLEX. It does not display correctly on my 16:10 monitor :(
There are barely any options in regards to changing the dimensions of the game screen.
Selecting 16:10 in the visual menu results in exactly the same aspect ratio in game.
Someone please tell me there is a way to fix this.

Every Single Other Cave Game On The 360 has the ability to adjust the aspect ratio to allow it to be displayed correctly on displays which aren't 16:9 including the 5pb release of Ketsui.

Oh yeah, the game is about a centimeter too far to the left so I cannot see how many ships I have left.

Those don't bother me too much, unless it's somewhere like a restaurant or in a movie theater of course, but what does drive me crazy is that god damn typewriter sound when you type a text message. All I can think about is that damn type writer from Resident Evil 4 you would use to save your game.
