Your comment made me realize just now that I mixed up Ketsui arcade challenge with Irori's Room in Esprade- my memory failed me there. That was definitely what I meant to say it reminded me of. Which means it should be pretty fun, I really liked it in Esprade.

They don't have any of the cool alt. covers or some of the fancier extras, but CD Japan still has orders open for regular and limited editions on both platforms. It seems like with their preorders, they generally get allotted a certain number of copies from the publisher at the start, and once they've sold through those, they'll take open preorders that take a little longer to fulfill, or something. Not entirely sure how that works. In any case, they've sold through their initial quantity of Switch standard editions but they still have a few PS4 standard copies and 10+ of the LE on both platforms. Doesn't look like they're tinkering with their JPY→USD conversion either, despite the weak yen. So for anyone who wanted to get a copy but is currently getting stonewalled by Amazon, there you go.

Got around to checking out the stream today, and I wanna talk about the arranged soundtracks! Two alternate soundtracks:

1) A "Stereo 2023" OST, which appears to also be on the CD that comes with the Limited Edition physical release of the game, and
2) SuperSweep Arrange featuring several composers from SuperSweep each taking 1-3 tracks (somewhat similar approach to the really cool Batsugun S-Tribute arranged soundtrack from City Connection). The SuperSweep version is getting a separate retail release on December 15!!! Kinda similar to SuperSweep's Esp ra.de. Psi Drive Waves 2019 CD release around the launch of the ShotTriggers game.
https://sweeprecord.biz/?pid=177718794

For the SuperSweep arrange, composers are:
Hiroshi Watanabe
Fumihisa Tanaka
Keiichi Sugiyama
Yebisu303 (I particularly liked the few seconds of the stage 3 BGM played on the stream)
Tomoyuki Sakakida
Hommarju
Kenichiro Fukui
Nhato
Shinji Hosoe (and the little bit of the Hibachi BGM played on the stream sounded right at home with old school Shinji Hosoe of Ridge Racer/Ridge Racer Revolution times - Rotterdam Nation 2023? ;) )

Pretty cool stuff, IMO. The soundtrack stuff on the stream starts around 8:05. Samples of several of the tracks start at around 11:11. https://www.youtube.com/live/NkNrvusipS ... _w-MyHXYYZ

Really great news about the soundtracks!! I was hoping they would be announced, those snippets sound great and I can’t wait to hear more.

It looks like Amazon Japan is actually allowing purchases for addresses outside of Japan again, but there's nothing I need to purchase right now so I can't confirm. I was able to get as far as "place your order" so it looks promising.

The bad news is that they seem to be out of stock across the board, at least the versions sold by Amazon. I haven't checked the other store versions yet like Ebten or something though, because they don't seem to exist anymore. Both the Switch regular and limited editions say "Currently unavailable - We are working hard to be back in stock as soon as possible." for the ones that don't come with the Amazon.jp exclusive. The PS4 regular edition also says this, but the limited edition says nothing (unless I missed something?) oddly enough, and all that come with the Amazon JP exclusive say "Currently unavailable - We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock."

They're just tricking foreign buyers still with a fake out of stock message. You can still buy the games from amazon.co.jp with a Japanese shipping address.

Of course, should have checked the site instead of the app. I got my preorder in for this and Espgaluda 2 in August, but must be frustrating for everyone who couldn't or didn't know before now.

I don't think anything M2 has released hasn't been reprinted if needed by now, right? I feel like I've seen multiple reprints, or at least supply released multiple times for both.

Interesting to hear this is becoming difficult to preorder. Is this a case where even the standard edition is a limited print? Or just underestimating demand?

I don't think this is limited, only the limited edition, and Amazon exclusive editions. It's simply becoming harder to preorder in the West. I don't know for certain and I haven't been able to find confirmation one way or the other, but I'm almost positive nothing M2 ShotTriggers has released this generation has been limited print. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

The difficulty of preordering in the West is most likely due to the unfavorable Japanese Yen to USD conversion rate. I think it's possible that they also didn't anticipate such a foreign demand for this release. DoDonPachi Resurrection actually made 17th for physical sales according to Famitsu the week of 9/25 to 10/01. It actually sold almost 7,000 copies, which is very good for these games. https://www.gematsu.com/2023/10/famitsu ... 23-10-1-23

Everything I've said is speculation, except for the sales data I sourced.

I'm guessing demand. May be a sign that stores have already sold their allocation of copies with the first press bonus, or close to it.

For those looking, it's still available from CD Japan:

PS4 regular: https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/PLJM-17306 (first press bonus gone)
PS4 LE: https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/M2ST-4-P4
Switch regular: https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/HAC-P-A72GA (bonus included, but only 2 left)
Switch LE: https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/M2ST-4-NS

There's a video up with previews of the new stereo soundtrack CD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGugzjmmUgc

Also, loving the previews of the new arrange soundtrack that got linked upthread. I was pretty cold on the Esprade arrange, but this one is sounding really good. They're leaning into the classic dance/techno that the original game was inspired by, and it works really well.

This will be my first ShotTriggers import, and I'm quite excited! I'm a bit puzzled by the WL-focused approach--M2 seems to be basing all of their extra modes on WL and relegating BL to its own mode without any bells or whistles. I prefer BL to WL, so that's a bit of a bummer.

Does anyone know how the Luna Tour mode will differ from Arcade Challenge mode? They both seem to be "chunks" of the full game, one piece at a time, and I can't tell what sets them apart.

I don't think there's been a definitive announcement on that but I very highly doubt it will be included; the 360 ports of DOJ and Ketsui were done by a different company, and when M2 gave Ketsui the ShotTriggers treatment it made its own Arrange mode instead of carrying over the existing one, presumably they'll do something similar here.

New M2 stream next week: November 22, 19:00 JST at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMvGpaLRRDI

Stream is going to provide a lengthy look at three arrange modes, which are pilot exclusive: Arrange S (Shotia), Arrange L (Leinyan), and Arrange EX (EXY).

And, uh... what's this?!?!?
20:10~ まだあるの!?もう1つの収録作品をお披露目
・君は『●●●●●』を知っているか!?
・実機プレイ
Something about unveiling another title??? Are they gonna stick a bonus Dodonpachi in this release or something?!?!?!?

The 5pb version on 360 had some controversy over the source code, which apparently was stolen from Arika's PS2 port. I wouldn't expect anything from the 360 version to ever surface again, unless someone is willing to remake X Mode from scratch.

The last livestream showed the presenters accidentally highlighting some invisible mode at the bottom of the menu, right next to where Black Label sits. Maybe they'll talk about whatever that mode is in the latest livestream.

EDIT: Ack that's probably not a new game mode they'll be showing off--I see the kanji for "recording," as in a video recording or studio-recorded piece of music. It might mean that the game includes high-score demos or another arranged soundtrack.

I saw CD Japan still had the limited edition version, even with bonus items in stock (12 left as of Nov 20th). So I cancelled my regular edition pre-order from Play-Asia and convinced my other half that this would be an excellent xmas gift :). I'm a little late to the M2 ShotTriggers party, although I did get Battle Garegga from limited run a few years back. I've been enjoying the Switch Live Wire Cave ports of late so eager to sample more of Cave's library on modern systems.

That kanji can mean recording, but in this context it means something that will be included in the collection (and the kanji 作品 implies it will be a complete work that will be included, rather than a single mode lifted from a past home port of doj). I'm betting on ddp3 because the youtube description for the upcoming stream includes a line that goes "have you heard about [a game called] ______?" and ddp3 would fit well in this collection while also probably being obscure enough to be referred to in that way (less obscure to people familiar with mame though tbf). we'll find out soon enough though, either way

I hope it's DDP3! Seems more likely than Tamashii, given the different hardware. I know Horii said there was interest in doing DDP2 sometime, but making it a bonus game in this seems like way too big of an extra.

DDP2 would be cool. It's like an amateur bootleg ROM hack, but it's an officially licensed product, and that makes it cool in a strange way. I don't think it would show up in this release, though.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope it's Death Label, but I also doubt that will show up.

AmiAmi is back in stock with all editions too. I just ordered a LE from them because they have the best pre-order bonus imo. They call it the double sided acrylic character plate. Its a little frame of the new and old artwork that's flippable. Its at 49:00 of this video https://www.youtube.com/live/NkNrvusipS ... uBvDJVzv2i

That does look good, but Amazon orders (for the US) are also back open, and I've got all these optional covers already...

I wonder why skip DoDonPachi DaiOuJou Tamashii?

Was there any hint of the next game to be released after DDP?

It runs on PGM2, which would have required additional work ..

Excited for DDP3! I know it's the most obvious pick but it's genuinely something I wanted to have in this.

GSK has a good rundown of the contents now that everything's revealed, including details how how the new arrange pilots work: https://cohost.org/gosokkyu/post/362488 ... -dai-ou-jo They sound gimmicky in a fun way, I'm looking forward to giving them a try.
