The Wii U ( WiiU ) Thread
Re: The Wii U ( WiiU ) Thread
The Wii U has reportedly been hacked. The same folks behind the Wiikey claim they have an exploit that allows games to be played via USB but there's no proof yet. Not a good situation for Nintendo, but it's probably low priority at this point without games to pirate.
Re: The Wii U ( WiiU ) Thread
The hackers just posted this:
Luckily, Nintendo already has an incredible strategy in place to prevent people from pirating Wii U games: They simply don't release any.
Supposedly that is proof.57 55 50 2D 50 2D 41 52 50 50 2D 30 30 2D 31 30

Yes, Hex to ASCII.
I'm sure Nintendo knows exactly what it is.we have now completely reversed the WiiU drive authentification, disk encryption, file system, and everything else needed for this next generation K3y.

Re: The Wii U ( WiiU ) Thread
It is very suspicious. I guess that the main source for the leak it's the same Nintendo. Wathever, I expect to see really good games for system in the coming months.
Just 3 or 4 titles like Luigi's Mansion 2 for the 3DS, and the console will start to sell like cakes.

I'd be excited if there were some good games for the system...
If only this could happen to 3DS, Vita or (finally) PS3...

Yeah, and that firmware is so outdated that almost any new game can't be played on it. I meant something like the RGH or an updated CFW

Isn't 3.8~ or something the most modern firmware that lets you run backups? And using some strange USB thing. The latest OFW is 4.4~
I did read about the PS3 network keys and about that 4.4 CFW but you need to have your PS3 on 3.55 OFW to be installed. What I don't know is if that 4.4 CFW would let you play any game... Didn't it only let you re enter PSN?
Anyway, don't leave me hanging and tell me if you know something that I don't know.

I will buy a super wii when Wonderful 101 is released. But I think that's an 2014 game
My guess would be that Nintendo will anounce a bunch of big 1st party titles around E3 with release in oct-nov to take some focus away from the new consoles from sony/microsoft

Apparently that blurb of hex is the game title printed on the disc for New Super Mario Bros U.Friendly wrote:Yes, Hex to ASCII.I'm sure Nintendo knows exactly what it is.we have now completely reversed the WiiU drive authentification, disk encryption, file system, and everything else needed for this next generation K3y.
Re: The Wii U ( WiiU ) Thread
Finally an announcement: Sega made a deal with Nintendo. Wii U will be getting HD ports of Yakuza 1 + 2 (already available on PS3, though) and an exclusive Sonic game, called 'Sonic Lost World', and 'Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games' and one other game to be revealed at a later date.

Re: The Wii U ( WiiU ) Thread
With publishers abandoning their ailing system left and right it seems that Nintendo`s getting more desperate by the minute. Ryu ga Gotoku 1&2? Really? Couldn`t even get 3-5?
Re: The Wii U ( WiiU ) Thread
Looks like a 'test' release to see if it's worth doing any more - a test that's doomed to fail. The RgG series could hardly do any worse on the WiiU in the west than on the PS3 though, as funny as that is to type. Is Nintendo publishing? It could actually do a lot better if so.

I dunno if this belongs here, but since it's on Miiverse, I think it could be pretty relevant.

Re: The Wii U ( WiiU ) Thread
It`s only been announced for Japan so far. The series` future outside of Japan is in big question after the tepid sales of RgG4 and Dead Souls. Some recent comments from a Sega EU representative in regards to RgG5 indicate that it might not be getting a localization at all.Drum wrote:Looks like a 'test' release to see if it's worth doing any more - a test that's doomed to fail. Yeah, just no-one's buying any games. Because there aren't any. Still. After a year of letting the Wii rot, "Operation Rainfall" RPGs aside.
Re: The Wii U ( WiiU ) Thread
I was wondering about how few games there really are, and was kinda surprised. Here's what ought to be a fairly comprehensive list: http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/ ... =condensedTransatlanticFoe wrote:Yeah, just no-one's buying any games. Because there aren't any. Not a ton, but more than I'd expected from all the doomsday talk. I would probably have gotten 5 or 6 of those if I had the console.
*shrug* I'm visiting my cousin who has one soon and I guess I'll see.

Nintendo themselves doesn't seem terribly interested in the WiiU. Instead of doing a proper console release etc. it's like they just said, "hey here ya go" and then walked away.

I don't think that blue bit on the back is going to save the PSX4 either.
Looks like a lovely crash up ahead. Looking forward to the handheld wars of 2020..

PSX Vita: Slightly more popular than Color TV-Game system. Almost as successful as the Wii U.

Just on the off chance that anyone was getting excited about Game and Wario - i wouldn't :/
Pretty big fan of the series, especially the first game, but this thing is utterly awful - a couple of ideas are -okay- but that's about it.
Massive disappointment.

Boo....
I will probably never buy a Wii U. I tried out the demo station and the controller weighs a ton. Having to buy a new controller after the buttons or analogue sticks wear out would really suck too. I cringe every time that I have to drop $50 on 360 controllers, much less that thing.

Re: The Wii U ( WiiU ) Thread
This. The Wii U is not Nintendo's prized stallion. The dedication they had for the Cube and Wii is nowhwere to be seen with their new system. It's all about the games and not the hardware, but it seems there's none of either this time.t0yrobo wrote:Nintendo themselves doesn't seem terribly interested in the WiiU. Re: The Wii U ( WiiU ) Thread
Apparently the subject of the next Nintendo Direct will be Smash Bros, Mario 3D, and Mario Kart. Bodes well.

Re: The Wii U ( WiiU ) Thread
Actually, my likelyhood of buying a Wii U rather sooner than later increased a whole lot last night. Real game consoles deserve support.
