Likewise, if we could just get some confirmation one way or the other I'd greatly appreciate it. If the answer is no ill grab it on amazon.Thjodbjorn wrote:Is GameStop going to be carrying this? I'd rather preorder from a brick & mortar store in my city...

Re: Shin Akai Katana Confirmed for North America
This post on NeoGAF claims that they've begun taking orders for it today. Worth going in to the store and asking.
Re: Shin Akai Katana Confirmed for North America
The game now has an official page on MS's NA 360 website. Still isn't listed on the marketplace yet (although the Bing search feature does recognize the title when you begin typing it out). I would still like to see confirmation on whether or not the demo will be released on the western marketplaces.

As of today, you can pre-order Akai Katana at your local Gamestop. It is in our system. The SKU is 201368, in case you're getting helped by an employee who doesn't know what they're talking about. Which happens way too often, sadly.
Mine is fully paid off. I'm mad hype.

Re: Shin Akai Katana Confirmed for North America
I've been checking the site, and even went to my local store a few days ago to check if they had it available for pre-order. I'm looking forward to finally being able to play this game along to it's rocking soundtrack!HeWhoGoverns wrote:As of today, you can pre-order Akai Katana at your local Gamestop. It is in our system. Cool, thanks for the heads-up. I'll be sure to hit my local store today.
Re: Shin Akai Katana Confirmed for North America
Preordered and paid off as of yesterday evening.
The one employee knew exactly what I was talking about because he'd noticed it in a flyer or something that had come in earlier in the day. He said he didn't have any idea what it was or expect anyone to preorder it, but was unsurprised that I had just because they know me well enough as a customer

I put my preorder down, and the clerk remarked that he's been asked about this game a few times before they had it in their system.
Re: Shin Akai Katana Confirmed for North America
The game now has a listing on the NA Live Marketplace. So far a premium theme is available.

Wow, this looks incredible. It's a shame I don't have an Xbox 360 >.<

The guy at my local Gamestop actually showed me, it's just a newsletter/update thing that gets sent to all the stores, and said (among other things) that they could now take pre-orders on Akai Katana (though they misspelled it "Akia", heh).kidpanda wrote:should have asked for the flyer lol
Anyways, good to know that I'll be able to pick up the thing with a minimum of fuss in a few weeks.

Gamestop eh? The guys who EBGames serve as subsidiary to?
I wonder if this means I'll see this in my local EBGames store for the PAL release in Australia. I doubt it though. Catherine might've shown up there but none of the Cave titles did beforehand and the other stores I thought were more reliable didn't stock DDP:R.

Re: Shin Akai Katana Confirmed for North America
Was there a Japanese version of this Akai Katana theme up at the NA marketplace now?
http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Produ ... 02545a07d3
If not, can someone download it and post some pictures to show us what it looks like? I doubt CAVE would make one just for the overseas release though.

Nope, seems the JP marketplace never got the premium theme, only NA and PAL got it 1st for some reason, and it would be nice if someone would upload a video of the theme and see what it looks like, but "ThemeXbox" would upload it anyway sometime soon...

Re: Shin Akai Katana Confirmed for North America
If xbox had the facility for displaying a random theme every time you turn the console on I'd buy more themes. How it is now why would I buy another when I then wouldn't be able to choose which to display...
Haven't bought any of the dfk/ds ones because of this.

What? You can choose whichever theme you want to display whenever. Same reason I cycle through 2000 wallpapers on my computer.

Have they given any explanation for why this won't have any extras (i.e. an OST)? Deathsmiles and Resurrection both had them. Couldn't they at least do a preorder bonus?

Well, since PAL has it easy, you can pre-order from Shopto to get a Large A.K. T-shirt, of course, NA doesn't have a pre-order bonus (or even LE's in both regions for that matter.)Op Intensify wrote:Have they given any explanation for why this won't have any extras (i.e. an OST)? Re: Shin Akai Katana Confirmed for North America
I wouldn't blame them too much, considering that this is a somewhat risky venture as it is, and they need to keep costs down...not to mention that every Gamestop from here to Timbuktu probably still has at least one unsold Deathsmiles LE sitting in its storage room gathering dust.Op Intensify wrote:Have they given any explanation for why this won't have any extras (i.e. an OST)? No sign of this showing up anywhere in Australian stores including EBGames.
Looks like I'm gonna have to import again.

Interesting that they seem to be advertising this alot more, atleast compared to DFK which had like 0 advertising.

That site is awful. An obnoxious floating "PRE-ORDER NOW!" button? "LET'S BE SOCIAL"? Teensy-tiny gallery pictures? What were they thinking?
I have only a small bit of HTML experience, and I could probably make a better site than that. RSG needs to hire a professional web design service. Even their main site is riddled with bugs and inconsistencies.
Ever since Aksys wrote "lolis" on the back of the Deathsmiles box, it was clear that Westerners had no idea how to market Cave games outside Japan. This is no exception.

I have a fair bit of HTML/CSS/Javascript experience myself and always find myself baffled at how companies can allow such terrible web design to pass through. Seriously... That site makes me embarrassed for their design department.Op Intensify wrote:That site is awful. An obnoxious floating "PRE-ORDER NOW!" button? "LET'S BE SOCIAL"? Teensy-tiny gallery pictures? I'm actually worried that the obnoxious floating button is going to turn away potential sales. It's like something you'd see on the gateway to a subscription porn/casino/MMO site.
Oh, the icons on the video page don't even do anything. Wow.

Also would like to say that I've already preordered Akai Katana from RSG and appreciate what they've done by localising DFK and now AK... the website may be godawful, but the company is the tits!
