Yeah, I'd be very surprised if it wasn't SH3 or PGM2 hardware, the visuals are a fit for either, there's nothing HD about them you can tell that even from the crappy phone videos. I'd be disappointed if it was SH3, because I was told when working on the driver that they'd cleared all their stock with the limited releases and the next release would be on PC-type hardware or PGM2.
I thought the PGM2 can't display transparencies? Does it? And isn't it less powerful than SH3?
I don't know, on either front. You don't really need the power of the SH3 processor if you're got a sprite / tilemap based system anyway, it's got a lot less work to do. Even with the existing SH3 games the only time the SH3 is pushed is during gfx decompression (which you don't have with dedicated chips)

If it's PGM2 don't expect it to be emulated, ever, IGS went even more nuts with the security on that than the later gen PGM1 games which I consider impossible.
Can you elaborate about this? If necessary in private

The PGM2 games take the later IGS027 technology to a new level from what I can see. We already know the last generation IGS027 chips have an 'execute only' region (which can't be read out even if you get code running on the ARM) so I'd imagine these are secured like that + better. The Motherboard contains *no* roms, and probably not even the CPU, just the gfx / sound chips. The carts contain the IGS custom (which is probably the CPU) and a bunch of roms. Even if you remove all the program roms the game will boot up to tell you that the program roms are missing, which pretty much proves the custom is an internal ROM job just like the IGS027, and they'd have no real reason to step back on the security they introduced in the previous generation.
The *last* PGM game known to be released with an unsecured IGS027 is DDP2. Everything after that is fully secured.
Anyway I'll let you get back to topic, just saying, if they really wanted security they could go with that, but IMHO what's shown there is just on the SH3 board.
