Well, if some of these companies' games were as good as their old stuff, you'd see that less often.

can some one convince me to get this game? I only played the Dreamcast version for maybe the most is 15 minutes. Can't say I was blown away or really impressed. I'd like to support these kind of releases but if I wasn't wowed back then maybe I might give it a 2nd shot and see if it can wow me now?

I dunno what are your thoughts guys.

The widescreen mode is called New Order. It's basically verizontal with twinstick shooting ability.

Bit of a shame because it means you can't play it with a stick.

It looks pretty good in general though.

The flashing WAIT is still wrong... and max extend stock.. also not really crazy about them moving CREDIT(S) X to the left side of the screen in New Order Mode.

When I looked at the screencap they took of the widescreen mode, I had a suspicion that they were implementing analog stick control for the firing (you simply won't see bullet-stream arcing like that in the regular game, since you stop firing to realign your copter's direction).

I wonder if the controlled fire will lock itself in the position you leave it or return to the center/deadzone of the analog stick? It looks a bit like Zero Gunner 2 now.

That's kinda weak, but ah well. It actually looks pretty fun, but it's a bummer you can't play with a stick, and I was hoping they'd take the opportunity to do something really crazy, like turn it into a bullet hell scorefest or something.

I guess simpler is better though, since GRev's never really been good at making scoring systems, imo.

The HUD and "HD" slapped on the logo look pretty bad, hope they improve on them :?

Also, you could probably use VO twin sticks or w/e for the twin-stick mode, though you'd be at a disadvantage by having 8 directions :P

That bottom bit in the HUD does look quite distracting.

Other than that, the New Order mode looks great. Looks way better than, say, RayStorm HD.

This concept pleases me greatly. It would fit the futuristic helicopter theme.

They called us crazy, but we have perfected the cockpit. Where once stood one cyclic stick stands two!

Oh god, this seriously has a twinstick mode? Who do they include these modes for--XBLA casuals? Like any of them are going to be buying this.

Actually, I am pretty excited about the Twinstick mode. Would have been upsetting if it had completely replaced the original game, but as an added mode, I see nothing wrong with it.

I wasn't a huge fan of the DS twinstick mode, but I think it will work much better with this game.

It still won't be Zero Gunner 2 though imo

Now that is interesting. I was wondering how they were going to justify charging the full newgame price for a HD remake. Not sure if one new mode is worth the double dip though.

They included a twin-stick option in Mamoru-kun (which actually made the game far more playable) so it's not surprising they'd add one here too (both games have similar fire-and-lock aiming mechanics). I guess in New Order Mode, there will be a separate button for weapon pod deployment (cause just tapping the stick in a direction to deploy it is going to be a tad fiddly).

I decided to break out the DC version and give it another chance. I'm surprised I'm really enjoying this game. It is simple but yet holds my attention and I'm finding myself going back to play it more and more.

I watched a super play of it on super play UK so that helped me figure out things a bit.

I'm gonna pre-order this for the PS3 now :)

G.Rev posted an update with an About page. Looks like standard wallpaper is an option, so no-one will have to use that annoying stretched tate presentation of the game in the background when played in yoko.

lol yes... honestly I didn't really give Under Defeat a fair chance. When I booted it up ages ago on the Dreamcast and saw the graphics, I wasn't really wowed considering the late stages of the Dreamcat's life, I'd assume they would be much better. You have other shmups on the DC that looks quit nice compared to it. It wasn't just about visuals either, the game felt a bit slower as well. But now that I gave it a 2nd shot, I'm starting to enjoy the game a lot more. It's not my favorite shmup but I'd be happy to support it.

Cover art for both the standard and limited editions has been posted on G.Rev's main website. The regular edition uses the same image from the DC regular edition. The LE is a new design. It's very.... orange.

That LE art is horrible and I say that as a Grev stan. : /

They must be hurting for budget. Maruyama mentioned on twitter they did the LE cover in-house...

What's the current best price on the LE shipping to the US?

Grey (P2) also looks worse for wear. I'm surprised they wouldn't carry over from the DC LE as well. No matter, the regular looks fine.
