Europe doesn't have to pay a higher price to import it.
Still, it's nice that US will have the option to play it. And I have no problem with supporting region free games for ones I would like that won't make it here.
@torisuRSG
I'm gonna assume you run the Rising Star Facebook page also.
Thanks for tipping us off on the region-freeness. :)
A game can be made region-free - provided of course the platform holder allows it - but a PAL publisher may be prohibited from promoting its sale in non-PAL territories.
So when you say this, it means we're gonna have to spread the word around the west about the region free news ourselves.
Aaaand we should probably be creatively asking you 'insider' questions about the release.

I do.

The situation is such that we aren't allowed to actively promote it - so we can't go to the USA* and launch a marketing campaign - but I can answer direct questions.
* which is a shame, because I could do with a 'business trip'

Yeah, typical big corporate business "bullshit". But the in times of internet the communities will spread the information

You won't be able to buy the DLC with a US account. I need to find out if you can use the DLC on an American console.
I know Amazon won't ship video games outside of their area. I'm gonna have to find out how to get the DoDonPachi goodness over to these shores. REGIONFREEDOM <3
Finally, common sense prevails. Seriously, hats off to all concerned who made that decision.
They should make it NTSC-J compatible too - I'm sure many of us with J-360s would buy it again, especially if Black Label Arrange Mode gets a DLC release at some point to go with it.

Agreed as I'm a fellow NTSC-J console owner, but while we're on that note...
Interviews keep referring to the downloadable modes as 1.51 and "the Black Label Arrange mode". Since Black Label isn't mentioned, I have to assume they really mean plain Black Label, and not Black Label Arrange... right? Can you resolve this confusion at all torisu?

Torisu has stated on Shmups and RSG forums that BL Arrange looks unlikely at this point (like here, but it'd be nice if the interviews were a bit less confusing in the future yes
Thats great news, kudos to torisuRSG and the rest of RSG, and also CAVE for green lighting it
and thx torisu (& gray107) for answering my question on publishing

In the worst case scenario, you'll need a Euro-region XBL free account and some MSP for the same region to buy the DLC from the European marketplace, at which point it will be usable with any account on the same console. Same way those of us with JPN 360s living outside of Japan have to get our DLC.
That only applies to Games on Demand. I think you can download most XBLA and DLC everywhere with other region accounts.
Wasn't the reason MMP and PS DLC code required a Japanese account because Microsoft changed some sort of policy? Sounds like this is happening with this release too.
DJ Incompetent wrote:erm, I don't think so. Aren't regions locked by IP? It was the same dance when Deathsmiles 2 came out west side.
Won't we have to run some serious proxy tunneling shit if it comes to EU download only?
AFAIK that's only for Games on Demand.

Mushi 1.5 is the only game I can think of that got the DLC released worldwide despite being only officially available in Japan. MMP/PS seems to be the rule and not the exception.
Do you need an address or anything inconvenient to create an XBL account in another region? I have a couple friends in the UK that could grab a points card for me and just give me the code...there wouldn't be any issue using the DLC while signed on to my normal, US account once it's downloaded, right?

Chaos Phoenixma wrote:BTW, does NCSX deal with European games also? If not, what's another good spot to import it from?
They do if they think the game's going to sell. Videogamesplus tend to do the same thing, too. As far as points cards go, though, no idea. Wouldn't have thought so, as there's unlikely to have been any call for them before.

Once you've setup a UK/EU gamertag, you can buy content on the UK/EU marketplace using your US paypal a/c. You can link your paypal a/c to any number of gamertags, regardless of region.*
*Assuming that Xbox Live region supports paypal. I think paypal is accepted via Live in most countries now, excluding Japan. From what I remember when I tried it, you had to have funds in your paypal a/c for it to work though, it's not like most other paypal payments where it will take funds from your linked bank a/c if your paypal balance is zero. Goto the Xbox Live website to link paypal accounts to gamertags.
