So you're teaching your daughter Chinese?

Good business language for a kid to grow up learning tbh, wish I could speak it. hzt on this forum is fluent as I understand it.
Yes, Ni Hao Kai Lan must be preparing today's children for the inevitability of China someday owning the entire world. :)

It's not a concerted effort to teach our daughter Chinese, but the more languages, the better. Already she is bilingual English/Japanese (although for the time being, her Japanese is WAY stronger than her English, especially since my wife and daughter have been in Japan for the past 3 months). Shows like Kai Lan and Dora the Explorer teach kids about other cultures and languages. Kids today are being prepared for more multicultural experiences than I ever was, that's for sure. The funny thing is that when my daughter went to Japan last year, she would greet people with a "ni hao!" That was cute.

Okay, I wasn't really sure if it was worth bumping the thread for this, but you know what, screw it, it's relevant to the forum in general:

Marevel vs. Clopcom.

It begins!

I kind of wish people would stop making cheap Touhou knockoffs, though. Why not make cheap knockoffs of other cool shooting games, like Layer Section, Gradius, or Ikaruga?

DoDonPachi/Touhou clones are over-represented.

Certainly. However, those are three games compared to dozens of Touhou clones. We need more! More clones!

Well, darn, my "Fighting is Magic" topic just got locked. Too bad we can't have a separate thread for the fighting game discussion.

Pinkie Pie, please cheer me up!

Just to echo what I said in the locked thread:

I'm actually kinda excited to play this after seeing the video, personal pro-MLP bias aside. My only hope is that they don't turn it into a brainless combofest, but we'll see. But at least the animations and music so far look pretty top-notch.

I don't think it's anything outstanding even by the standards of YouTube music videos, but it's amusing how the visual theme somewhat suits the song, almost like Die Antwoord's own live action vids.

So the new season launched this morning, any of the fans secure enough to admit it want to talk about it? I for one was impressed by John de Lancie. He's basically just playing a pony version of Q, but that's not exactly a bad thing. Well constructed plot with a lot of good surprises.

Looking for real discussion, not another anti-ponyflame war.

I could use some entertainment. Lets see if it's on youtube yet.

To be honest, I'm skeptical that the new season will be any good, because Lauren Faust isn't directing it this time.

EDIT: Found a better upload. Ponies are now... in glorious 1080p!

MLP Season 2: "The Return of Harmony"

Episode 1

*spoilers*

Initial impressions - kinda started a little awkwardly, some recap of the first season to remind people who haven't seen it in a while about what's going on. Also disappointed that there isn't a new opening for Season 2 (yet?). After they started getting into the plot, though, it really started drawing me in. Discord seems like an awesome villain! Love his voice actor! Some of the scenes were downright creepy... horror elements in My Little Pony!? More likely than you might think.

Luna is still mysteriously absent... where is she!? What is she doing!? I also like how Celestia conveniently sidestepped that the "powerful foe" the ponies defeated was her -own sister-, LOL.

It's been confirmed that we won't see the remasterd/updated theme until episode 3. Episodes 1&2 have been done for a while.

I hope they don't pull another "Episodes 1 and 2 are really different in tone from the rest of the season" again =P.

It would be nice if they went on stuff that's a bit darker. Haven't seen it and probably won't till I'm done moving in, but they better add more adventure this time, and don't pull something like what Blackbird described. (IIRC, Faust wanted to do more adventure episodes, but Hasbro and Hub don't want to take too many risks)

I'm only going to contribute to MY thread unless I can carry on Brony bashing.

That's the reason it was created in the first place. :)

According to this interview with Faust the main reason the tone of the show was limited was do to the 'ei' requirements. Interestingly enough there was no 'ei' on the first episode of season 2, so that might explain the darker tone.

Let's see...

Season 2 1080p - Episode 1 Episode 2

Also, check out this amazing remix: Surfing on a Rainbow

Even the pony haters should check out the remix. Just close the window and listen to the music, it makes really amazing use of sampling for those electronic music aficionados.
