Xbox 360: Eschatos (April 2011)
Re: Xbox 360: Eschatos (April 2011)
Does anyone know what triggers the area 17 miniboss in JSS? I've noticed that sometimes I have to fight him and sometimes I don't. Do you have to destroy a certain amount of enemies within a certain time to skip it or what?
Re: Xbox 360: Eschatos (April 2011)
Yes, not friendly to non-Japanese literate folks at all but the best game in the Eschatos package IMO :)Shatterhand wrote:And what is Cardinal Sin? That game is really weird, is it a score attack game where I have something specific (but not clear) to do at each level?
There are 7 mini-stages, one for each of the 7 deadly sins. Each stage has a different objective which you have 1 minute to clear. If you lose all of your lives during the stage, you'll receive a failing grade for that stage. If you pass all of the stages, you'll continue on to the final area and then the final boss. Most of the points come from earning higher ranks in the stages.
Area 1 - Envy - Destroy everything/let no enemies escape (100% destroy rate for S rank)
Area 2 - Sloth - Grab as many extends as possible without dying (15 lives in stock for S rank)
Area 3 - Greed - Scan as many events as possible within the time limit (100%+ scanned for S rank)
Area 4 - Pride - Destroy as many ships at 100x multiplier as possible (hint: use the shield) (200+ 100x kills for S rank?)
Area 5 - Lust - Clear as many waves as possible, the next wave won't appear until the current wave is completely annihilated (11 waves for S rank)
Area 6 - Gluttony - Grab as many of the medal items as possible by cancelling the onscreen bullets (350+ items for S rank?)
Area 7 - Wrath - Stay alive! You can't damage the wireframe version of Magnificence, but you can lower the rank by attacking the Mirror Shield (no-miss for S rank)
edit - superplay, but I thought it was fun figuring out most of it on my own

Re: Xbox 360: Eschatos (April 2011)
Sorry if this has been answered already, but there are no FAQS I can find, and I checked this thread and the JSS ones and couldn't seem to find the answer:
For Judgment Silversword:
1) How do you unlock Special mode? I can't beat normal yet, so I suspect it has to do with a simple clear.
2) How do you unlock the hidden ship?
I'm really enjoying the bundle that is Eschatos, maybe we will see more obscure (to Westerners at least) old school classics like JSS show up soon........

Just clear JSS Normal. Ranking on/off, continues, etc. doesn't matter.postman wrote:1) How do you unlock Special mode? I can't beat normal yet, so I suspect it has to do with a simple clear.

Re: Xbox 360: Eschatos (April 2011)
Thanks nZero, had a feeling that was the requirement.........
Also having trouble with the 512+ shots blocked achievement in Eschatos.....playing hardest mode, I wait for a wave of the grey ships to bombard me and use a full shield until I die, and still can't get it........anyone know the perfect spot for this?

Re: Xbox 360: Eschatos (April 2011)
What can we do about getting this game on Games on Demand? I want it badly but can't drop the $85+ it would take to import. Will it be up for a Greatest Hits release anytime soon?
That is Galactic Dancing
Re: Xbox 360: Eschatos (April 2011)
On Demand might be tough, since I believe the only non-US game on the US gamelist is Deathsmiles 2, and Cave is very aware of their overseas audience........Qute is much smaller and probably won't offer the game as a download.......although I'm sure it's a small disc size, Eschatos is short and the WonderWitch games take up very little space....

Re: Xbox 360: Eschatos (April 2011)
Nobody has "Aegis of Bullet Hell" achievement (512 bullets cancelled in one burst)?
Still having trouble with this one.........
Also, while I have maxed out option level on Eschatos, JSS feels like quite the grindfest even at the lower levels (10 -up). Maybe I'm not scoring as much as talented players, but this reaches an RPG game status of just earning points to unlock options.

Re: Xbox 360: Eschatos (April 2011)
What difficulty are you playing on? I've found that even as an untalented player hard mode is much easier to score in because it's easy to get the multiplier to get really high and because there is more bullets to run through your shield and cancel.postman wrote:Also, while I have maxed out option level on Eschatos, JSS feels like quite the grindfest even at the lower levels (10 -up). I'm also on hard - I get to about 19M on one credit. Currently working on two goals, beating normal and using hard mode to rack up points....

Re: Xbox 360: Eschatos (April 2011)
Damn, my best hard score is only 6.4M. If you are getting 19 on most of your runs you should be able to get all the option levels in no time.
I know most people playing this currently are playing on 360, but might anyone know why judges would mysteriously disappear on the rom/cart version of JSS? Like I get to the boss and he's either invisible and doesn't emit shots or he just straight up isn't there, preventing me from finishing the stage and counting my score towards the option unlocks. When invisible they eventually make the explosion sound and my score stops increasing but it still doesn't advance. The first couple times it happened I figured it was some fluke glitch but it's gotten to the point where it happens too frequently to make much more progress. One time it exited the game and gave me a white screen with Japanese text, in case that rings any bells.

Just unlocked:
freeplay at level 26
starting stage 5 at level 28
for those keeping track........though it doesn't help much, with the checkpoint system.

really hoping this gets a platinum release.
I just can't justify the 85$ asking price. I think about 40$ would be more appropriate.

Just got this and it's awesome. Sorry if it's been covered but just wanted to know if there's a rotate option for Judgement Silversword/CS, cos I can't seem to find it and it'll be a bastard to have to rotate my cab just to play em.

There isn't unfortunately, only Eschatos itself features tate.

Does anyone know what the resolution JSS is upscaled to? I don't think tate would even work.
Re: Xbox 360: Eschatos (April 2011)
I'm a cheap bastard and I can tell you even 85 makes it worth it. I've spent more time on this game than most other shoot-'em-ups, except for maybe Exzeal. If this gets a Platinum Release, I'd buy it again a few more times and give it to other gamers to try outCasper<3 wrote:really hoping this gets a platinum release.

Based off my personal tastes, this kind of negates your whole statement :/xbl0x180 wrote:I'm a cheap bastard and I can tell you even 85 makes it worth it. I suppose the similarities are superficial. I was thinking of how:
- Shooting Love comes packaged with extra games.
- Both games have an Indie shoot-'em-up aesthetic (ships and backgrounds).
- Exzeal features limited continues.
- Catchy music.

God mode unlocks at option level 33 -
Once you get this, say hello to the hidden ship and some very quick level ups. No achievements though obviously.....

Re: Xbox 360: Eschatos (April 2011)
So I've watched quite a few replays online, I still can't figure out the scoring for both eschatos modes. Can anyone list the main points?
What about jss scoring?
I was able to finally order the game, really looking forward to cardinal sins

Re: Xbox 360: Eschatos (April 2011)
I don't know about Advanced, but for Original the main scoring system is:
- Points are mainly generated from enemies, and their base point value is multiplied by your current multiplier.
- For every wave in which you destroy every enemy, the multiplier raises by 1. What constitutes a wave differs depending on difficulty; higher difficulties allow you faster multiplier raises.
- For every single enemy you miss, the multiplier drops by 1. It also drops by 1 if you die.
- The multiplier caps at x5 for Easy, x10 for Normal, x20 for Hard and is presumably uncapped for Hardest (I've raised it to x22 or x23 a few times).
- There's a time bonus for each wave, which drops per-frame until you finish the wave, at which point it's earned - it's also multiplied by your multiplier.
- There's a clear bonus of 1m/2m/5m/10m for respective difficulties, as well as 1m per reserve ship at the end of the game.

I would also appreciate an explanation of Advanced's scoring system.

Re: Xbox 360: Eschatos (April 2011)
Advanced uses the basics of Original scoring plus a guaranteed multiplier from x1 to x7 depending on your power up level, but dying lowers your power level by one and cuts off your chain completely. The other key difference is that cancelling bullets give you point items, whether it's from using the chain, grabbing yellow F items, or finishing off a bullet cancelling enemy/boss phase (blue F items, as seen only on bosses, don't give you a bullet cancel but only act as a bomb)... oh and the Wonderwitch items qualify as well.
Pink point items can be worth quite a lot and their value is mainly dependent on your multiplier, probably your power level as well (it's hard to tell since the two are connected), and it seems there's a bonus if you get a high number of them at once. Cancelling lasers with a yellow F item/end of bonus phase seems to be especially lucrative, and since there's no speedkill bonus, it's usually worth it to milk bosses and the like (small fry isn't really worth it though). Max power seems to be ideal for milking since point items are worth a lot more then, though it's sometimes worth it to do juicy yellow-F cancels and take the power down.
So Advanced seems to be all about occasional milking, but I went into some detail since I've yet to see an Advanced replay that really goes for milking, and I'm pretty sure the current 43m top Advanced Normal score can be improved on a lot.

Thanks for the replies!
It seems original takes a twist on the older generation of shooters (like the nes games where you cannot miss an enemy)
Advanced seems, well, advanced haha

Re: Xbox 360: Eschatos (April 2011)
I've played this for a couple of days now and so far I've put about 8 hours into it. Fantastic game - most fun I've had with an STG this year and I've only played a couple of credits on JSS and none on CS.
Does anyone have a list of what gets unlocked at each Option level? I'm up to level 23 I think and can change my ships colour, turn off some effects, download replays and have extra lives and credits + Hardest mode for Original.
What affects your multipliers drop when you die. Sometimes it only goes down a couple of levels but other times it'll drop from over 20 to about 5 or 6? (in Advanced hard mode anyway, can't remember the others but I don't think it's as drastic)
Also, the music rocks but you knew that already. GGS Qute.

Re: Xbox 360: Eschatos (April 2011)
Avatar Ignis, sorry if I was too long, but Advanced should really read "milk lots of bullets/lasers when at high power, and otherwise blow up stuff as usual"
Given how the top scores don't do that much milking,
it's not so bad, and less tricky than JSS I think.
05pro, your chain multiplier resets all the time in Advanced, so you get down to your power level base multiplier, so anywhere from x1 to x6 if you were at full power. This is the basic multiplier you can never drop below, unlike Original where you don't have a "guaranteed" multiplier but you don't lose your whole chain either on dying.
My own question: does anyone know how Time Trial work exactly? There may be some information in Japanese on the topic but I couldn't find anything
There's definitely rank at work but the details seem obscure.
