Still waiting for my Konamistyle Limited Set to get shipped. Any ideas how long Konamistyle items take to ship? Probably didn't help I ordered the Otomedius OST along with it, which recently got recalled for having one switched track and 2 unused tracks in the first printing.

I don't know, I'm personally pretty excited for this game as they have a lot more going on than in the first. Speaking of Parodius, there's quite a bit of fanservice in that regard in this game too! Something I thought was amiss in the first game. Not to mention the fact that according to some data on the disc, the DLC will actually include content from Non-Konami shmups!
You know, people is always complaining, I'll never understand it since the game is the new Parodius, I guess people that used to loved the simplicity of the konami saga are just now "ZomCaveshed".
By the way Blue where did you get the konamistyle edition?? I have been looking for it but I was unable to find it.
you have to use an import service that will order directly from Konamistyle.

I know that. Yesasia has it but it is just too expensive (they're asking 200$+), and nin nin has it too. What I don't understand is why PA doesn't have this time around when they got it for the first otomedius.

This time its a Konamistyle exclusive. Importers offering it have to drop on it first to bring it into stock. Play-Asia doesn't want to do it.

Sometimes Play-Asia and NCS will stock web-only LEs it if you email them with a link to it relatively early on - I've done this with some of the Bemani-related Konamistyle LEs before. The overhead is usually quite hefty though since they have to pay full retail plus whatever proxy they end up using. I've also used Himeya Shop to order Konamistyle LEs in the past.

For the record I don't HATE parodius... but I don't adore it with all my heart either. I am picking this up like I did the other one and will probably enjoy it to a degree also.

Just because you don't bounce off the walls for a game that isn't cave doesn't mean you hate all things non cave.

What I was trying to point out was I didn't really seen the 360 games as being THAT horrible when compared to the others in the series. But Gradius Gaiden or GV it is most certainly not.

I post in peace.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

A couple of other things to note...

If you play in Story Practice Mode, it highlights the character hitbox in red.

Contact with the surroundings will not cause damage to either your ship or your shield. In fact, even the highspeed section in level 7 will push you up and down through inclines.

Diol Twee is utterly broken. Freeze Type Options + Level 2 Gravity Bullet = Total Bacterion Rape.

You obviously haven't seen the video from the last Otomedius romp. Take a look at this:

Esmeralda's Options are now 'lazy', for lack of a better term. They don't have the same degree of snap that they did in the first game. It's more difficult to set them up in instakill-positions like that (not that it's impossible, mind you). But what do you expect for a DLC character? Watch Straf and Kokoro Belmont be equally broken.

Oh, and one more thing, the Shield takes 4 hits before being eliminated (Blue -> Purple -> Orange -> Red). And there's a lot of invincible recovery time after being hit.

So Kiken, do the achievements look easy as shit or what?

If the game is that retardedly easy I can't imagine there's any real challenge in them except for the nightmarish grind of character/weapon cards from the first one.

Oh that sounds like a lot of fun for a digital popup.

Kiken i take it you are somewhat enjoying this game? I don't think anyone would go through all that trouble if they didn't like the game.

Still looking forward to playing this game.

Pretty much. They're easy to unlock, it just takes time though to play through Story Mode with each character on both Normal and Expert difficulties (simply jumping straight to Expert will not unlock the cheevo for a Normal play-through).

While there don't appear to be any character cards, the vast majority of weapon cards are gotten by destroying certain enemies or boss parts during a stage. There are some experience-based ones though that'll require grinding to unlock.

The only one I see as being somewhat of a challenge is the break 10 million points one.. seeing as my average score per loop is around 3.5 million... I'm looking at having to complete at least 3 loops in Score Attack Mode in order to unlock this (since Story Mode does not loop).

Yeah, it's not bad, certainly much better than the first game as far as I'm concerned. A single loop takes about 45-55 minutes (depending on difficulty). There are A LOT of recycled bosses from Gradius Gaiden.

That's a shame. I was hoping she was still Bike-Pants-On-Head-Retarded overpowered.

Also, if I recall correctly, under a specific set of circumstances, a force field in Parodius could last 5 hits, but they were VERY specific.

that's so much better than Gorgeous. Thank god.

Also, Bosses from Gradius Gaiden is kinda nice. Its nice to see Gradius Gaiden see the respect it deserves for a change.

Nice. I would figure as much. It does look decent. Cool to see Gradius Gaiden stuff in there. Thanks.

More looping shenanigans :(

What kind of multiplayer options are available this time around? They seemed to hype the co-op a bit in the trailers, but is there anything like the Versus Mission from Gorgeous?

Probably not, considering the big deal they made out out of co-op. They finally nailed down how to have competitive gradius work and then they abandoned it within 3 years. Shame.

That being said, don't sell your copy of Gorgeous then.

Yep... it took me until the end of stage 4-2 to break 10 million. And at that point, I was so fed up that I just suicided about a dozen times at the boss. It looks like they chose 10 million since you'll need to clear 3 loops to nail this and you keep unlocking weapon cards through the second and third loops. Two stages into loop 4 and not a single new card popped up.

There's no versus mode like in the prior game.. just 3 player co-op, which in itself could be cool.. you know, for one loop.

One other thing that I finally thought to test out while playing last night... every character has a charge shot, the Platonic Break. Diol Twee uses Xexex's tentacle strike... this thing just does crazy damage! The stage one boss now barely gets out a single shot before it goes down (every boss part destroyed simultaneously). Just hold down the Burst button, and your character will charge up their attack. Releasing the Platonic Break does not use up a Burst item.. so you can abuse the living fuck out this attack (the only draw back is that while you're charging the PB, your movement is slowed).

Oh there's a bug. That's exactly the same as a full D-Burst in Otomedius Arcade, except it's supposed to instantly exhaust a stocked D-Burst.

God I hope they fix that, Not that they couldn't be abused like no tomorrow in Otomedius, with each enemy killed spawning at minimum 1 power up, and using the Stock D-Burst on Position 6 filled 40% of the next D-Burst stock, so you only needed 18 powerups to spawn to make another D-Burst, lather, rinse, repeat, score large numbers of points because powerups are worth 500points a piece in Otomedius and looping the Powerup meter gets you 5000.

Here's the thing, you no longer get any points for picking up Power Capsules, and there is no D-Burst refill option in the Power-Up Meter. You get additional D-Bursts by picking up D-Burst items which appear after killing certain enemies (you can collect about 4 per loop). I didn't notice score increasing each time I looped the Power-Up Meter either.

I figured out the problem with my stick... apparently when I plug the Hyper Oto Stick in through a USB hub, it doesn't detect the touchpad... but when I plug the stick directly in to the console, the touchpad works fine.

Just got done with a lengthy Score Attack play through (commited suicide in stage 7-1) and it seems that loops 4 and 5 were holding some odd straggler weapon cards... however, not a single new card unlocked in loop 6.

Another odd thing I noticed... despite the fact that the Burst Item stock uses 2 digits, it seems to max out at 9.

Alright so I should target loop 6 for weapon cards. Good to know.

I won't have that much time tonight though, that should take, oh dear, several hours.

Got Captian Bikeshortsandhappy and Poini unlocked today though.

I have some sort of problem using my Controller Converter Pro with this game. All diagonals seem to trigger the talk menu/chat menu. Anyone else had this?

I'll try using my X Converter 360 instead, if that fails I might just use a stick instead.

Edit: XConverter works fine. I guess it's a problem with the CCP despite working in every single other game...

the chat menu comes up whenever RT is active. This makes it a somewhat annoying flashing object when playing with a Hyper Stick Pro, because your hand floating over the touchpad can activate the HSP.

OK I'm still having problems finding some of the weapon cards. By Loop 8 they just stop dropping in Score Attack Mode (I know this because I've been there) and I really want to get this game achievement complete sometime before its been out for two years (See dieKatze88 tries to play Otomedius G Saga)

Anyone know where some of these cards are, these are the ones I know I'm missing off the top of my head:
Wave 1
Ripple 2
Boomerang 2
A.Laser 2

I even tried playing practice mode to see if that had any usefulness (the answer is no)
