Valid criticism didn't come from those guys - it's the internet. Even in well-above-average places like this one, one must learn to address the serious questions and ignore the rest.DCEvoCE wrote:No problem with that at all and I don't think I expect anything else/less. Problem however is that some of these "experts" claim that RHE would not be a picky expert, but an "average amateur at best" - not exactly "a way to make friends on a forum"
I am extremely picky myself when it comes to games that I would consider spending my valued time with.

I don't mind a port to WiiWare etc. It's just that theres has to be a phisical copy existing fo the game even if it's just a special edition.Turrican wrote:You're letting a lot of potential buyers out ~me, for example~ because you have a fetish for packaging? Awesome.
I should really take this advice and don't response some of the poeple in the 'A serious note about Last Hope' thread - they just don't understand.DCEvoCE wrote:That's a good idea. Don't feed the troll(s).

Actually Microsoft decided to change their entire focus for Xbox Live Arcade and start publishing nothing but new games on it, not arcade ports. So it wasn't Ketsui itself that failed their "quality check". Besides, Ketsui was allready released as a commercial product - in Japanese arcades.Necronom wrote:@Turrican
I guess the said forum member forgot to mention that it was such a "quality check" that killed Ketsui for xbla...
It's probably a much better idea to develop for PC or DC first, get some feedback and port later to one of the networks.

You could both make money and thwart the naysayers by making an official DUX T-Shirt:RHE wrote:...don't response some of the poeple in the 'A serious note about Last Hope' thread - they just don't understand.

No, MS never said that they switched course. They said they will concentrate on original releases, that's all. Never say never...Udderdude wrote:Actually Microsoft decided to change their entire focus for Xbox Live Arcade and start publishing nothing but new games on it, not arcade ports. The term "quality" in this case doesn't necessarily mean "your game sucks", most of the time it just says "no, thanks"...that's why I wrote "quality check".

Let's not! Please.Turrican wrote:You're letting a lot of potential buyers out ~me, for example~ because you have a fetish for packaging? Awesome.RHE wrote:I don't have clear opinion on that. While I think that stuff like WiiWare/XBLA/PSN are great opportunities, especially for independent devs, they all have the same flaw - no physical disc. I just don't like the idea so a DC release with physical disc is the best choice to me.
Look, I'm still no new-gen but the first thing I'll do with my future PS3 will be to grab Stardust! If you believe in DUX, I think you should consider a conversion. With Last Hope you did pretty good: it's on three different platforms after all.
I too am an old grumpy gamer!! I know how cool were the cartridge days! But honestly... Let's carry on.
I politely disagree. The world changed and DLC is everywhere, and it's cool this way.
So in 10 years time or so after your x360, Wii or PS3 dies you still can enjoy the game you bought?Think to it - what's the real advantage of physical support? It makes for a great fan-service, but other than that, it just takes room.
Having a physical copy can have you try and find a working other console and just play it on that.
That AND you actually own something instead of just having paid for the rights to play.
DC is easily the most accessible console to make homebrew for. And by accessible I mean that it's (native) support for playing code from normal cd's and the accessibility of those are a huge plus. no need buying swapdiscs, mod chips or flash carts.
Also DC fans have gotten used to shmups and most have been well appriated. Easy access + nice enough potential market make this a 1+1=2
kind of thing.
But that aside, I think RHE just has a soft spot for the sega's swansong anyway.

I'd be down for DLC sometime.
One points out that 10 years down the line, you wouldn't be able to play those DLC games anymore. I think it's dependent. I know with the 360 you can save the stuff on memory cards, which don't really go bad the same way that hard drives do. And as long as the network is up, one could redownload the game.
The wii is tougher since I believe they have some hardcore stuff in place to keep people from pirating games, but I'm sure if there's enough demand, a workaround would surface eventually.
Also, maybe I was a bit harsh on Cave, but I felt like ranting after reading threads shitting all over MUSHA while praising some Cave japanese arcade release that the bulk of people will never play

microsoft is already removing "poor selling games" from their network. so if you've purchased one of those titles and your hard-drive shits the bed what do you do? money out the window. i've purchased a lot of games off xbla, but i'd rather have a physical disc every time.ubersaurus wrote:I'd be down for DLC sometime.

You re-download. I don't give much attention to XBLA or PSN or other download-shit-for-moneys services, but I saw this update to the cancellation plans today.brokenhalo wrote:microsoft is already removing "poor selling games" from their network. so if you've purchased one of those titles and your hard-drive shits the bed what do you do?

I finally found the time to set up a Wiki article for DUX at Dreamcast-Scene.com
- I will improve the layout and add more content later.

For an memorize horizontal shooter there will be more bullets on screen then in any other game of this type as far I know. Since you have a pod, you can absorb those bullets instead of just tap-dodgingt them, which makes the game different to most danmakus with many bullets.Jockel wrote:Will this game be bullet heavy?
The hitbox is rather small but not danmaku-like small. The ship has enough defense to absorb bullets though.Jockel wrote:What about the hitbox? Will it be small? Its always more fun with a smaller hitbox since it allows more insanity both in level design and flying the spaceship.
No.And what about making "You just don't understand (tm)" appear in the game? xD
