Finally, someone gets it. This is also the same reason 99% of modern shooters are RUBBISH. Unless you enjoy bullet hell. I don't.
This is the same reason I rate TF3 over 4: three of the first four levels in TF4 are completely devoid of obstacles. You just fly around and shoot enemies. This is the problem with nearly all modern shooters: no-one bothers to DESIGN LEVELS any more. Half the challenge of TF3 is having to maneuver around sheets of ice, rock, metal ship hulls etc. The latter stages of TF4 have this as well, and are infinitely more interesting than Strite, for example.
As for Broken Thunder... all interest died when I saw the stage 1 video. Bask in the emptiness! Even the soundtrack sounds like more of the same TF5-style metal, which is starting to get a bit old.
R.I.P. Technosoft.
It's not that I feel obstacles are necessary, it's more that I feel Broken Thunder looks bland compared to other Thunder Force games. No enemies popping out of the background like in the Daser stage in TFIV. No transitions like in TFIV or V.
I actually prefer TFIV over III. The stages with little obstacles make up for it with well placed enemies. I found Strite to be very well designed. Well placed enemies and an awesome battleship. One of the initial stages has bombs you have to avoid and snake like things that appear. The desert stage has enemies that pop out from the background.
Well, regardless for what has all ready been told about this obscure Thunder Force wanna-be clone, I would like to try it out.
To my surprise, I have not even been able to download it from emule!
Only the soundtrack compilation comes up and all online stores seem to have removed the game from their lists!

It isn´t as bad as is being made out by some. It´s FAR from great though.
If you get it... don´t spent too much $ on it as it isn´t worth it. Also get the LE (with the OST if possible), it doubles the enjoyment out of it so justifies the extra cash. (I was silly enough to get the regular version though )
