Just put Blazing Star in the cab. I love it and I've had it for years, but somehow I can't get into playing it seriously.

So much fuuun!

EDIT:
Also, is it just me, or is DOJ a lot less difficult than Ketsui?
EDIT2:
Sucking loads less at Ketsui now, but my last question still stands, because I'm finding Ketsui to be a lot less manageable!

[also, in before Ketsui becomes an extremely common response in this thread]
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

It's not just you, Ketsui is generally harder than DOJ and accessing Ura loop is insane (No-miss, No-bomb, 150 millions minimum).

........ after a quick, credit-feeding glance at Ketsui, Doj /doj bl, I have to say: Gosh, those games are goooooood! :drools:

But: I'm still playing EspRa.De. at the moment. :-)

Dead Moon for the PC Engine has enoamoured me right now. A great example of the 'avoid power-ups' mechanic, an awesome OST and even a great cover. The 'skeletons in space' setting's great too. There's a touch of Zed Blade to it, and the energy of the Star Soldier series. Great stuff.

I'm also back into Progear (JPN). I'm trying to get a decent 1CC score now, rather than a lame one.

DOJ rank is currently broken, and remains very low even during hypers.

Also, related to the topic of the thread:
KETUI KETUI KETUI.

Just returned from a break from shmups.

I started things off with some more Mushi Futari on the 360, along with some Triggerheart on xbla. Got Espgaluda II coming in the mail (hopefully) within the next 2 weeks.

Congratz.

Make sure you got enough lube so the constant butt-raping that is Espgaluda II doesn't hurt tooooo much. :-D

Been trying to 1CC Super Star Soldier for Wii Virtual Console. I've made it as far as stage 10, but I need to find a more consistent way to defeat the stage 4 boss (a giant green robot with homing missiles). I've ended a lot of runs there because I either exploded or get hit and lose my upgrades, and stage 5 is difficult to impossible without a decent weapon.

The homing missiles seem hard to dodge because the boss takes up so much of the screen. Next time, I will experiment with increasing my ship's speed, to see if that helps me lose the missiles more easily.

Heh, yeah, I hear it's pretty rough.

The hardest game I've 1CC'd so far is Futari BL on Original (yeah yeah, I know it's nothing to brag about) so I'm not expecting to be too competitive with Espgaluda II. It seems there are some easier modes available on there, though, so I'll at least be able to accomplish something I hope. Black label shouldn't be completely hopeless if I can 1CC Futari BL, should it?

Hrmpf. I seem to have hit a wall in EspRa.De.... :? No matter what, I just get snuffed at the 3rd boss, either with yusuke or jb the 5th... doesn't matter which boss... I just managed about 3 times to get past boss 3 to level 4, it is quite a chore....

After about 22 hours of gameplay, I'm considering giving it a break for now and switching to another game for now. I'm thinking about mushi futari black label, would that be a good game to concentrate on for 1ccing it?

Or should I stick with EspRa.De. and train for the 1cc in this game?

I have recently been enjoying the hell out of my new 360. Guwange is actually the first Cave game I've ever played, and.... its decent. Deathsmiles was definately better. But neither of them have been seeing play often, because Mushihimesama Futari is just toooo good.

A little bit of Ketsui, and a little DDP DOJ regular edition, needless to say I've always wanted to try DOJ (both versions), now I can.

I'd go with Ketsui instead, as the scoring is somewhat similar to ESP Ra.De. (pointblanking, then chaining). Or just start playing with the girl, I always use her when I randomly pop my PCB in the cab. 8)

Okay, I'll think about it. But isn't Ketsui hard as hell and then some?

What about mushihimesama futari? I'm considering giving it more playtime. I'm thinking about playing black label more seriously, espescially as I spent quite some money importing it and downloading black label.

It is hard, but that will only make ESP Ra.De. feel much easier when you go back to it. Alternating between two games where one is harder is very good if you want to improve your game.

It is fantastic, but doesn't play much like the above mentioned titles. Black Label Original mode does however give you extra points for pointblanking and even hovering above ground enemies. :D

Excellent, excellent game. It took me some good practice, but I was eventually able to 1cc BL original. Futari is definitely my favorite shmup, so of course I have to reccomend you stick with it for a while.

Gave up on DFK 1.5 and sold it (maybe the BL release will grab me for the Ketsupachi arrange if nothing else). Back to bouncing among Futari/DOJ BL/Ketsui/Raiden IV/RFJ for me and I couldn't be happier. =D
<trap15> I only pick high quality games
