Re: Your High Scores Signing Initial and What it Stands For
Just for kicks, I'd input "PCE" for the high score initial entry. On the classic Hard Drivin' and Racing Drivin' deluxe sit-down cabs, I'd enter the classic "Pac-Man Lives" or "Mrs. Pac-Man Lives" as my high score initial entry. Atari Games was cool to allow their arcade patrons to enter whatever they wished to do so if such a high score was reached.
Some arcade games and console games were notorious for not being able to enter certain high score entries such as: FUC, FUK, SEX, etc. and would revert to a set default name entry if those particular entries were chosen. Of course, there's always the nicely phonetically spelled variant of "Phuck" to consider as well.
Back in the early 1980s, it was cool to leave such short text messages on the arcade game's high score list for your friends/enemies to read/peruse. It was possible to pull off back in those days, provided that you could reach the high score list (albeit at a quarter per high score initial entry for a mere $1.25 back in the day if there were five top high score slots available at your disposal). Of course, most early '80s arcade games didn't save high scores and/or high score initials and would simply dissappear upon shutting the arcade's main circuit breaker box down for the night. Some classic arcade games like Tron, Discs of Tron, Dig Dug, Pole Position, Pole Position II, etc. would save such high scores & high score initials for posterity. Classic arcade gamer veterans already know about this cool high score text messaging trick (just like with the lost art of "jamming" as well).
Sidearms Factoid: The classic Capcom's Hyper Dyne Sidearms PCB (circa 1986) had the strange notion for the player to enter his or her initials before the start of a serious shmup session. Only if you were to reach or beat the top 5 rankings, would your initials appear there. Strange but true.

ARU, for reasons that should be obvious
Considering how much I play Espgaluda (and improve on scores on the cab that's at my school), I should probably do that neato message thing for the all-time Tateha HS board that PC Engine Fan X mentioned.

If I do it nicely it will be KOL or EDW.
If I perform like shit it will be something like BST, KCT, MER, BUN, CU or SCH (for Scheisse).

ROB - Short for Robert because I'm not creative enough to come up with anything else.
I like how x91 uses roman numerals for his initials (IXI).

Re: Your High Scores Signing Initial and What it Stands For
PJG for my initials, but I went through some phases.
ACE as a kid cause my older cousin used it and I thought he was cool, also fast to enter.
OZZ because I liked Black Sabbath.
RS2 because I really got into Ikaruga for a few years.
GOD but only when I take top spot on a public machine.
Only thing I use nowadays besides initials is 1CC if I clear it.

Whatever an instant "END!" gives you, for instance Psyvariar Revision gives you "???" if you do that, and then you can be amazed at how it was updated to "!!!" for Psyvariar 2. Usually it's boring company initials though.
Re: Your High Scores Signing Initial and What it Stands For
And dan76 does this occasionallyIllyrian wrote:Generally if I do a crap score at the arcade I enter one of the other player's initials, so that people will think they did it.
And both of them usually write HZT when they do
I think hzt is just some random letters I chose to deliberately have no meaning for me, I guess it's possible it meant something originally (I've used it online sometimes before using it as score initials) but I've forgotten now if it did, so same result.

Re: Your High Scores Signing Initial and What it Stands For
I've mostly been using YOG for the past few years, after Yog-Sothoth, from Lovecraft's pantheon (also the name of a musical project I still haven't started).
Occasionally I'll use BAL, as in Bal-Sagoth.

Re: Your High Scores Signing Initial and What it Stands For
R.Q / R!Q / R♥Q / R♪Q - pretty much whichever weird character the scoreboard allows goes between the initials
or REN, if not even "." is available, but that's uncommon, and REN! on 4-character boards

TJB mostly, sometimes I use TDN.
if it lets me use more than 3 characters (In The Hunt for example) I'll use my current IIDX name, GOKKUN.
