I've been lurking here for quite awhile. I love this thread, so here is my first post.

Hopefully soon this picture will include a custom stick.

I will invest in a decent stick one day but for now a 360 pad will do

My camera skills are not great but you get the idea:

seriously? thats weak..... :?

have you tried running your desktop in a non-16:9 aspect ratio resolution? or will the monitor not allow it?

either way...thats very odd....never seen a widescreen monitor force 16:9 of 4:3 signals.....

like when you run chankast at 640X480, it stretches it 16:9?

Lots of LCD monitors don't have built in controls to adjust the scaling. You are stuck with 'full-screen' as opposed to 1:1 or Aspect Ratio.

With the 360 though, you should just set its resolution to the native resolution of your monitor and the game should be smart enough to get the aspect ratio right.

On PCs, your video card may have a setting in the drivers to do full/aspect/1:1. nVidia cards definitely do but the support for it has been flakey for a while now.

Yup as in monitor allows it fine not as in I can't - apols I should have been more specific! Settings in the pic are just how I had it at the time, I quite enjoy playing Ikaruga like that.

EDIT: Hmmm, I actually may be wrong :( I've only had it 4:3 running through PC, not sure if the monitor itself does have that option, I'll have to double check through the (shed load of) menus. Doesnt help that the manual is for the lower model :(

Btw that is Ikaruga running on Chankast, not hooked my DC up to it yet.

'Tis quite handy on the ports as it has a DVI, D-SUB and an HDMI so I can leave everything I use most frequently all hooked up :)

I'm happy with it anyway, serves the kids with their 360, watch films in full 1080p HD, dual screen on the PC for work and whips round for a blast via PC hookup or (hopefully) DC. Not ideal perhaps for some but I've no complaints especially for the money.

Wish I had the room for a cab (I used to have one some years back) but expanding family kinda put paid to getting another one :(

Thankfully my monitor will do 1:1 for anything on all it's inputs (component, S-Video, VGA)

This is very important to me, nothing should ever be stretched haha

There are monitor arms you can buy which will allow to to freely rotate and move your monitor the way you want. Not all may rotate, but they're out there. I suggest getting one if you often switch between yoko and tate.

Mine is a BenQ FP241W.

It's pretty nice because it supports D-sub, DVI, HDMI, Composite, Component, and S-Video inputs. So as long as you have some way to get audio out of your device you should be able to hook it up to this monitor.

Here's my tated Sony PVM-2950, connected via BNC to VGA on a Soft-15Khz-PC. The picture on this screen is absolutely fantastic. It has really nice scanlines and is bright as hell (I had to reduce the contrast to 50 % and the brightness to minimum).

I'm awaiting a Panasonic FT 2900 broadcast monitor next week, hope the picture is as satisfying as the Sony. :)

Tate-setup with a Panasonic FT 2900. It has a degauss-button on the back so tating is possible without any colour problems. This monitor can be added to the 15 Khz-list.

I stumbled on to this thread and felt inspired to tate a TV. I tried it with a larger set I had which ended up with too much color distortion. This little guy worked well so I tossed it on my desk. I cranked up the sharpness/contrast until my eyes bled with joy.

The Saturn controller is custom modded for use with my PS2/360. Now I just need a Japanese 360. :?

My camera/phone disappoints me.

My general setup including tate.

I'd like to find a better spot for my Neo-Geo. I hate having it sit on top of my SD tv.

You just didn't give it time for the degauss to charge. Try it again and don't turn the tv on until AFTER you tate it.

What do you mean by degauss to charge? I found out when I tate my tv to the left it has discoloration, but on the right I only get minor discolorations on the corners of the screen.

If you leave the tv off for 10-15 minutes after rotating it, there shouldn't be any discoloration.

I dig your setup, man! :D Looks like plenty of room for everything! Maybe just stick your Neo-Geo AES on-top of your NES and have enough slack in the cables to pull it out when you want to use it :D

Before I got my swanky monitor and HRAP:

Current setup, including co-pilot :):

It's a 23" display, but I get about 21" for a 4:3 game. Quite an upgrade from the 12" laptop screen, and easier to rotate.

Arcadevga/PS2 through scart to a nice 25'' Sony 15 Khz Crt monitor
Semitsu LS-40 joystick and sanwa buttons.

I have a parsol cristal over the monitor and the picture quality it's stunning
