The slowdown is very minor. Almost no slowdown for long stretches and then minor slowdown when things get really busy but nothing like the slowdown in Chaos Field. You shouldn't worry at all on this front!neoalphazero wrote:That sounds right up my alley, hopefully I'll have it tomorrow. Quick question, is the slowdown minor or is it as extensive as Chaos Field?

Received this today together with Ibara. The art isn't precisely my style but I can appreciate it. The game however is cool without reservations. Took me a bunch of credits until I even started getting the hang of the scoring system. There's plenty of shmups where you can just hop in and blast away with no regard for the scoring system and still have fun. This felt incomplete until it clicked. Keeping your net attacks going constantly got addictive fast, great sense of rhythm. Been switching between this and Ibara not knowing which to play...

No. The yellow den (電) icon ups your radio-wave gauge. Ka (化) is the one that changes all bullets to ten (点) icons which increase your score. Ami (網) restores your net-abs; which is the bomb-thingy. Tate (盾) gives you a little shield for a while, the one that appears when you hold off on the attack buttons for a little while. Chikara (力) ups your power if it wasn't obvious.Kiken wrote:The yellow Den icon changes all bullets on-screen to the blue Ten icons.
The orange icon enables your shield whilst firing/slashing.
I can't remember if there are any others... I'll check when I get home.

I'm definitely impressed. The game is much more balanced than Chaos Field , not nearly as slow and plodding. The graphics are better than the videos suggested too, much more colorful than the grayed out shots we've seen. Well worth importing, whether it be on DC, GC, or PS2.
BTW, I was checking Milestone's developer diary for the game, and it sounds like they do have another game in dev but it wasn't quite ready for AOU. Perhaps someone can do a more complete translation. *-neo

Take out the aerial on the 1st boss to destroy all his parts, if you're up to
x16 it's an easy score boost.
Not sure if all the bosses have an aerial, can't regularly get to the 2nd.
It feels like when you get a x16 it should be celebrated a little more, maybe
a bigger, flashier x16 icon or something. As it stands it's like
"....ummmm....yeah x16, well done."
Something flashier (and quicker appearing) would get the old endorphins
flowing a little more.

Aerial, the bit on the very top, like on a mobile phone.
On the 1st boss it's top left, you have to sit yourself just above his face
on the left hand side.
Lock on laser should show you the way.
Destroy that and all the 'parts' explode at the same time.
Lots of x16s and lots of triangles drop down too.
Maybe antenna is a better word to use.

Well, I finally got the game and the English text on the side says Radirgy... so I guess there's not really any more debate as to whether it's Rajirugi, Radirgy or Radilgy...
Any mods want to change topic titles to reflect this?

You're arguing for a universe with fewer waffles in it. I'm prepared to call that cowardice.

I was skeptical about this game because I was thoroughly unimpressed with Chaos Field and never bothered to buy it. However on Thursday I went over to my friend Lou's place (ncc1701p--known to the local AZ shmuppers) and he'd bought it. Very nice game. My first impression was that visually it resembles a PC Engine game. Gameplay was great fun, and it uses the sword slash a lot better than Chaos Field did. The game screen resembles a keitai cell phone screen, especially with the battery meter for your life. Extremely neat stuff and I now intend to buy this game along with Under Defeat.

Undamned is the leading English-speaking expert on the consolized UD-CPS2 because he's the one who made it.

In Psy2 perpetual leveling up was horribly easy so I don't think that's a problem.Rob wrote:Alright, 1 minor complaint for the audience:
I think there's a problem with the fundamentals of this game system when the ABS meter can be replenished before the currently used shield has been exhausted. It's like Psyvariar's perpetual leveling up but much easier to do.
Still great fun.

Haha.Rob wrote:If you were looking for the Psyvariar 2 high score thread, it's right here. Psyvariar 2 took some skill to pull it off, Radirgy much less/none. I'm talking about no gaps in invincibility for half a stage.
Oddly enough I like Compile-style exploiting of this sort because of how silly it is.

First impression after booting up and playing for the 1st time was actually one of being underwhelmed...
Graphics did nothing for me and with seemingly just blindly moving around I got to the first boss.
After a few runs however I began to get used to the graphics and now I can actually kind of enjoy them (Though I favour the look of their previous game - Chaos Field
). Once you play some more, it becomes obvious that just moving around blindly wont do much for your score and also in the end won't get you that far. Now I am playing it with a little more strategy and actually enjoy what I am doing.
After about 6 hours with the game I think it's a nice game and am glad I picked it up.
Will post my latest high score later today!

I wasn't overly impressed at first look, but I've been keeping at it for a few days now and the more I play it, the more I like it. Now I think it's a very nice game overall and it's so nice to have a title that has such a unique character. I don't think it quite has that real addictive quality that keeps you glued to the screen for hours on end, but it's certainly a lot of fun to play.
A huge improvement on Chaos Field in my book.

Mine just came in.
I think this must be the second new sealed DC game I've ever bought. Yeah, I did a lot of piracy back in my days :(
Just going to take a minute to get my DC hooked up and I'll give it a spin. I don't really know what to expect since I haven't been following this thread at all, but I'd like to just have some fun before I get too worried about high scoring.
edit: Damn, this is fun. I don't really understand the scoring system, but it's fun. People at work here are getting all excited about BLACK, and here I am hunched over in my corner with this game. The fools don't know what's good for 'em..
