Don't know if it's been posted before (tried searching but I got no results about it).
Anyway... Thing is I was browsing through basiscape's webpage today and I found out who are the composers: it seems they're good ol' Namiki and Matsuhiro Kaneda (which I don't really know at all). If I remember right he was one of the composers for the Mushihime OST commercial theme that it's included in the Insanity DVD soundtrack.

It's the first one:
http://www.basiscape.com/our_history.htm

And here's the 'Works' page for both Namiki and Kaneda:
http://www.basiscape.com/namiki.html
http://www.basiscape.com/kaneda_works.htm

Now all left to do is to wait for the soundtrack :D I wouldn't really be surprised if they released it this autumn, as this spring would be too early I think, with the Ibara CD so recent and the figures being sold right now.
Just a couple more shots!!!

I knew Namiki worked on it, but wasn't sure about the other dude. If you look around on my page, you'll see that Namiki and someone else from Basiscape (I'm far too lazy... I really should look) worked on Mushi together. This soundtrack is leaps and bounds above Mushi, although not quite as good as the first ESPGaluda me thinks.

FYI -- stage 3 map, enemies, etc., is on the official website.

If anyone cares, this months Arcadia is pretty nice. Stages 5 & 6 strategies, plus the finishing up of the charcter sketches, complete with Seseri, Madara, Asagi Clone, and the last boss.

Cave has announced an ESPGaluda II Super Play DVD. One can download a promotional video of it from Cave's website. It says they will be recording between 03.13 and 04.16, and will post the high scores in May. I'm assuming the highest scoring runs make it to the DVD.

The kicker? Arika (or at least 'Mihara of Arika') is involved. I wish they would just get Arika to do the port, but doesn't everyone. The other kicker is a little sentence that loosely says, "ESPGaluda II Strategy DVD Proudction --- Primarily, 'Business'". "Business" I believe is the words Mihara used in his blog talking about Cave's (or someone's) decision to not have Arika do Mushihime-sama (although I'd have to reread it to make sure).

They say there will be more details in coming days on the Cave website.

Most likely. The question is, "how faithful will it be, and when?"

Studio Siesta has posted a new sample track from their upcoming Arrange CD. It happens to be the first stage track from ESPGaluda II.

Got to try the game today and I'm not real impressed. It's definitely a notch harder and I like some of the effects they did with the backgrounds, much better than just static pre-rendered stuff. Still, by "not impressed" I mean it's not the best Cave game ever; it's still better than the bleh Shikigami no Shiro III that was sitting next to it. I'll buy the PS2 port when that comes, but it's not much to get excited about.

This wouldn't happen to be at a largish arcade in Hong Kong, in Nan Fung Centre, would it? That was where I got to play ESPGaluda 2, and I just found it to be more of ESPGaluda 1 - especially because I didn't catch how to do kakusei zesshikai. Definitely looking forward to getting to play more of it, though.

I found it in Shinjuku. Wandering Japan looking for a bank that would take my debit card was starting to grate on the nerves, and I happened to pass a multi-story arcade and couldn't resist. It sucked, everyone was playing Guilty Gear and all the Cave shooters were sitting there untouched. Suckers.

But yea, it's really just more Galuda 1. Not necessarily a bad thing, but still. Not the DDP to DOJ-type of evolution I was hoping for.

Get used to that. Outside of Hey!, there are very few arcades where the shooters are more crowded than the fighitng games. I will admit, they are much more social. I met loads of people playing VF4. About $2500 later, and I've got a few mates to show for it.

Indeed. I believe I said this in my review... or at least somewhere. It's the first game on steroids (ie - a sequel). If the first one doesn't make you wet your pants, the second one won't either most likely.

The 50 yen arcade in Shibuya (on Center-gai... not too hard to miss. Look for the "50 yen" sign) has a decent selection of games, including Galuda II, Mushi, Ibara, and DOJ if you're in the mood for those. They might have Shiki III, but who knows. Tons of old shit. Very smokey, but half price isn't bad.

On Topic: The official website is updated w/ original character settings of all the characters. These are basically color versions that appeared in Arcadia, w/o the designer commentary.

It's their only game with roman numerals at the end. It was bound to be more of the same.

If they were going to do a major re-design of the system they would have only kept the "ESP" part of the name (just as they did with the 3 Donpachis).

Nice replay, but it won't be the one in the DVD -- not exactly anyway. Notice that he triggers the extend twice on stage 2. A high score play will trigger it twice on stage 1.

Another new clip added yesterday. Two extends in the first stage. GP, can you tell what the intro is saying about the DVD?

yoink
Details have been given on the ESPGaluda II Kouryaku DVD

Scores are:
Ageha 804,868,352 by Doraemon @ Nobita something rather (Good Day 21 - Tokyo)
Asagi 701,827,177 by GIN Gochisou-sama (Try Amusement Tower - Tokyo)
Tateha ???

Official DVD
Sale Date: 05.22.2006
Price: 6825 Yen
Details: 3 DVDs
Running Time: Roughly 41 minutes per disc
Thoughts: Only members of Game Center Yokocho can reserve copies
More thoughts: Each disc contains 1 run. Also will contain a booklet of unreleased rough sketches, system explanation, and strategies.

Dave K. -- never saw your message. I'll check out that vid today and get back to you.

EDIT:
The 4th promo vid doesn't really give away anything amazing. Says normal "promo" stuff. Produced by IKD. Took 1 month to record. Full of tricks. Shin-Seseri appears, etc. It does mention that the 4th video is not the one in the DVD, and was recorded for promotional purposes.

I'm starting to fear that this will only be available through Gesen Yokocho. Cocobiz doesn't seem to have it on their website. :(

Watched the 1CC vid posted in the superplay website.

It does indeed look like hot stuff. I found it interesting how in stage 1 you can shoot off parts of the medium size ships to cause HUGE bullet spreads for serious cancelling/scoring. Other than that it seems to be the same game, only with 100x more bullets and much prettier(I like the special effects).

Cave has updated their ESPGaluda II Kouryaku DVD Page

The scores and players are as follows:

Asagi: 793,285,147 Clover-TAC
Ageha: 868,341,063 GFA2-ISO
Tateha: 879,115,588 Clover-TAC

Orders start on 05.22 at 18:00 via Gesen Yokocho, or Cave's website.
You can order through Cave's website as well, which still makes it equally as worthless to most people.

The game plays quite a bit different from the first. You have to consider both gem count and gold count this time, where as before, the idea was to get a lot of gold and keep it. As you can tell from the video, the difficulty is ramped up quite a bit as well.

Sorry I did not mention this. Cocobiz will special order it for 1500 yen on top of the price (500 yen shipping to them, 1000 yen fee). I'm sure PA would charge just as much if not more, as there is no wholesale. I officially asked for one, but have not heard back. Guess I should email them and make sure.

Any news from Cocoebiz regarding the special orders for the DVD? Just looked on their site, nothing doing yet. Nothing on the blog either.

... and yes, I am really impatient. ^_-
